Troubles among other troubles
" So, what happened out there on the Aegir?" I constantly pestered Stace Collet as she tried to adjust the new body of her's she constantly popped in and out of to be more agile and lightweighted.
She sighed and finally gave in." Alright! Here's how it went!" She sat cross legged and looked at me. I prepared for another long explanation.
" The Aegir 575, the previous successor version of the one now, wasn't yet complete when we...had a false alarm..." She looked down as if shameful of the deciding they made.
" But we were also reaching a deadline for choosing between this planet and the other one close-by. We were forced to choose only one as we didn't have enough fuel for both. We didn't have the luxury to waste time on searching for many years." She coughed.
"But you, the miracle worker, started to work day and night on your Proto-Shop or whatever you called it and ordered us to cease movement of the Aegir." Stace tapped her metallic body.
" Making that..." I connected one and another and finished her sentence. " To search both of the planets while not using a bit of fuel?"
"Exactly."
" But, couldn't we have used solar panels and cells instead? Aren't we capable of installing a dozen of the panels around the ship?" I scratched my head thoughtfully.
" We'd lost too much on, you know...your fiasco with Aria on THAT planet, almost destroying a major part of our fuel cells on a planet barren for millennia." She pressed on the word, that, as if not willing to exposing more.
" Oh..." I dipped my head down as it was my turn to feel ashamed.
Just what happened there?
" Anyways, skip a few weeks and you were ready to launch your invention, the Single Person Ravager Insteadofgoingto Two Places. SPRIT in short. The the last P is silent" She let of a carefree laugh.
That wasn't SPRIT by best...it's SPRIOGTTP.
I was a genius sometimes. Sometimes, not so much...and she was pissed off that I didn't name my inventions well and I didn't want to increase my chances of doom by answering.
" This was the third prototype model. The first one crashed on the other planet and it hasn't transmitted any data since then." She opened up the core and showed a big MARK - 3 splayed on metal.
So I didn't fortify anything? Wow...I shouldn't be that careless with the fate of the human race...
" And then y-bzzz" Her voice left behind a depowering static effect and she went limp, as she was to the floor. " OFFLINE." The machine blared farewell three times and soon, it too cut itself off.
" What just happened?" My cutie sister poked her head into the room and smile her love at me.
" Nothing. The doctor has just left..." I replied with a smile, worried about Stace. Then a few hours passed. A few more. The entire day passed by and no movement was observed.
But we all had problems by then.
Jeamie came up with a serious stomach ache as she chugged down lots of food down that night. Aria was busy upgrading ATACC and finishing the cabin and what-not.
But, oh boy, I was having nightmares...
And I was both the predator and the prey. Quite the predicament.
" She is MINE! You don't DESERVE her!!" Stan pointed his experimentary plasma gun right at me.
" Calm down. Let's talk about this and not make rash decisions." I responded in a calm tone.
