"So how many people are coming to the quarry?" I asked while looking behind at the trail of cars following us. I didn't know whether alot of people was a good or bad idea but we we're probably gonna stay away from them anyway. Us Dixons arn't really very sociable, we tend to just keep to ourselves. People seem to avoid us anyway since we're just seen as 'Redneck Trash'. This was a insult I got alot especially at school, which was probably why I barely ever went.
The bullying soon stopped though after my brothers found out and went into the school and threatened a bunch of kids. This probably didn't help with the whole 'Redneck Trash' idea. But after a while I just learned to not care what others thought and never really made any friends because Merle always says 'The only people who are ever gonna care bout you is Soph is me and Daryl', which so far in my life has been correct. Our dad never cared about us and our mum died a few days after I was born so the only people who ever looked out for me was my brothers.

"Around 10 I think" answered Daryl. Merle just scoffed but I didn't bother acknowledging it knowing he would just complain.
"What are they like?" I asked looking at Daryl.
"They seem alright but pretty sure ones a cop." Daryl replied and I instantly knew Merle would have something to say about that.
"A damn cop! You gotta be kiddin' me!" shouted Merle almost laughing "this is gonna be great."

I just rolled my eyes and leaned my head on Daryl's shoulder to try and get some sleep.

"Soph wake up," said Daryl while flicking me on the nose. "We're here." I opened my eyes and yawned while looking at my surroundings. We were in a clearing surrounded by trees. Parked next to our truck was a RV and getting out of it was a older man wearing a fishing hat. Behind us were more cars pulling in to park. I saw a guy in deputy clothes, must be the guy Daryl was talking about. Next to him was tall women with long brown hair and her arm around a little kid, who couldnt of been older than 10, with brown hair. Before I could get a look at the rest of them Merle and Daryl both jumped out the truck so I followed close behind.

All three of us stood awkwardly by the back of the truck waiting for someone to say something. Then the cop guy spoke up.
"Hi everyone. My name is Shane." I cringed at how awkward this situation was. A bunch of strangers all now expected to camp out in the woods together like a big happy family, I got the feeling that it probably will be a bit more complicated than that.
"Now I get that y'all must be scared but we gotta work together here. This is a shit situation and hopefully it will all blow over soon but until then we gotta stick together." continued Shane.
"Now how bout we all start by introducing ourselves."
I heard Daryl scoff which got him a glare from Shane. I chuckled slightly but stopped after Daryl elbowed me in the side.
"As I said before my name is Shane. And this here is Lori and Carl." He said while gesturing towards the brown haired women with the kid.
"What bout you?" Shane said pointing towards a asian guy in a hat.
"Uhh hi I'm um Glenn." the guy answered his face going red. I smiled at him which he returned. The poor guy seemed more nervous than I was.
Shane continued pointing at different people. There was two blonde sisters Amy and Andrea which I already knew I would definately get mixed up with; a skinny women with short grey hair called Carol with her husband Ed who I immediatley took a disliking to as he reminded me of my dad and their daughter Sophia and a spanish guy named Morales and his family who I didn't hear the names of. There was also a tall guy called Jim and a black guy who called himself T-dog and a black women named Jacqui. And finally the old guy in the fishing hat who I saw by the RV said his name was Dale.
After a while of going round in a circle introducing ourselves which felt like being at school it was finally our turn.

Shane pointed at us and said "Now what about you guys?"
I turned and looked at my brothers who were both staring awkwardly at the ground and decided I should probably be the one to introduce us.
"Umm well my names Sophie but I uhh prefer Soph and these are my brothers Daryl and Merle." I felt extremely out of place but soon felt better when I saw both Carl and Glenn were looking at me smiling.
