I hate airplanes.
See the concept of them is great and all...
but have you ever been on a plane??Hundreds of people crammed into a flying hunk of metal with an idiot hottie as the captain.
I'm not scared of heights or scared of death (come at me death I'm ready), it's just...
I have to deal with the world's most annoying people. All at once, too.
Cue to the kid behind me kicking my seat every five seconds. And the guy off to my right having far too many drinks. A baby cries and the old lady beside me coughs right in my face. My nose wrinkles in disgust as Dee slides in the seat next to mine.
"I wanted window seat." I complain and eye the old sickly next to me.
Dee rolls his eyes, used to my antics. "And I got stuck in the middle!"
"It's a short flight. The last on you had window seat. We're only going up to New York from Philly."
Now it was my turn to roll my eyes. "Yeah yeah. I know."
I smiled up at him. That was, until Sickly coughed on the back of my neck. I clenched my jaw and my eyes wound tightly closed. "If I can make it to New York without contracting pneumonia, T should invite me to join the 'Vengers cuz I'm untouchable!"
Dee actually laughed, and wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "Not allowed."
"Oh come on party pooper! I'd be an asset to the team! I'm gonna ask T!" I teased, a smile written across my face.
"You will not ask Tony. He doesn't need to baby-sit you." Dee withdrew his arm as the engine roared to life and the captain began to murmur some instructions no one bothered to listen to.
"Baby-sit? Nah, I'd be doing him a favor!" I huffed and slid down further into the seat so my knees touched the back of the chair in front of me.
"Didn't he just hire someone new for the team, Spider guy or something?" Dee watched me from the corner of his eye, waiting to see my reaction.
"I don't know. Why does it matter?" I asked, not bothering to look up from my book propped open against my legs.
He shrugged, and I threw in my earbuds and played Artist Vs Poet to keep the sounds of the plane away from me.
The plane skidded to a stop on the runway, jolting all of the passengers along with it. We pushed through the crowd of people trying to get off.
I looped my arm through Dee's and he flashed a smile at me.
Tony stood at the pick up area with a big fat glitter sign labeled "Runt + Rhodey". I laughed and ran to him, my arms thrown wide. He caught me and spun me around and into a hug. "Look who it is, the Runt makes her premiere back into the states." A laugh, and I stepped back and took it in.
Multiple security agents held back the crowds from Tony and now us, his guests. T followed my eyes and smirked. "The paparazzi missed ya, Runt."
"Well, I would imagine so. Wouldn't want to leave them too long on withdrawal." I threw a silly face at the reporters who's cameras clicked and flashed before Dee pulled me back from them.
I just shrugged and took Dee's arm again, following Tony to the car.
"Meanwhile you were off in la-la land, we moved upstate to a shinier facility. Uh, you can either sleep on the couch or outside." Tony stuck his hands into his pockets and I crossed my arms over my chest.
"This new room better be the best thing ever."
"Oh you wound me, Runt!" He placed a hand over his chest and winked. "You better believe it."
I followed behind him, down a hallway with huge windows off to our right.
He threw open pretty oak doors and I gasped. To the right was a heated swimming pool, ground level and soft licks of steam rising from the waters. To the left was a bed, propped up a top a small room. Railings encased the bed, ensuring no fatal falls while asleep. Under the bed was a library with all of my favorite books. Behind the bed and library duo was a walled in room, the ceiling a soft curved dome. From beside me Tony snapped and the lights went off and little stars littered the ceiling dome.
I stepped inside, pillows and soft blankets covering the floor and spun in a tight circle.
"No... way." I breathed and looked back down at Tony. A genuine smile splayed across his face and his hands were in his pockets as he shrugged. "It's not much."
I frowned, and threw a pillow that lay at my feet at him before throwing my hands up in the air. "Are you kidding? It's amazing, I love it!"
"Thank you." I muttered and gave him a small smile.
"Don't sweat it. As long as Rhodey and I can swim in the pool."
"Never!"
