An awkward silence settled between the five people. Richie and Eddie were both still trying to calm down; neither one wanted a boner while talking to Richie's parents, both had their reasons why.
"Rich, can we talk to you?" Maggie asked, but didn't wait for an answer and Richie hears his parents and brother go into the kitchen. He looked to Eddie, who was flushed and not looking at Richie, and got off his bed. He pulled on an oversized hoodie, in hopes of hiding the hard-on that everyone already knew he had, before heading downstairs to face his family.
"Ma! Pa! I didn't know you guys were even home! How the hell was I supposed to know? And Nick, what the hell dude, don't you know you gotta knock?" Richie started, hopping on the countertops and pulling his hoodie down. Nick kept the conversation rolling, their parents don't really know what to say. They're gone for months, and come back to be greeted with the sight of their son grinding on another boy. They just stood off to the side and listened.
"So, just friends, huh?" Nick smirks, crossing his arms and raising an eyebrow.
"Uh-we...um...we were just...okay, maybe we aren't just friends. But that doesn't matter. I didn't know you were home, and I sure as hell didn't know they were home." Richie explained, gesturing to his parents, acting as if they weren't even in the room.
"I wasn't supposed to be home, you're right. As far as you knew, I was out to the bar until midnight. But really, I was picking them up at the airport. We went up to your room as soon as we got home. So no, I wasn't here at first." The two were silent for a moment. "So, how often does this happen?" Nick smirked again.
Richie blushed and coughed again, looking away from his brother for a moment. "Uh, this was only uh, the first time." Richie said quietly. Nick let out a dry chuckle.
"We interrupted your first time? Damn, sorry bud." Nick worded his sentence weird, and Richie's eyes widened.
"No, not like that! It wasn't going any further, I don't think." Richie blushed again.
"You don't know where it was going?" Richie shook his head. "Would you have gone further if he wanted to?"
Richie eyed his brother. "I don't know, why?"
"No reason. Go back and talk to him. He's probably freaking out, and we're fine down here."
"Alright then." Richie hopped off the counter and started making his way back to his room.
"Actually, Richie, just a minute." Maggie interjected. Richie shut his eyes and turned around to face his parents again. He opened them when he was turned. "Now, Richie, I know we aren't home a lot. And I know we don't spend enough time together. But the fact that you didn't even care to tell me that you got a boyfriend? Richie, you're still my son, and I like to know what's going on in your life." Maggie said quietly. Richie wanted to be happy, but he knew better.
"Yeah, except you don't care." He scowled.
"Excuse me?"
"Yes, Ma, I have a boyfriend. His name is Eddie. We've been together for a little over a couple months now. But he's been tutoring me for three or three and a half months now."
Maggie's eyebrows furrowed when he mentioned a tutor and Richie scoffed, crossing his arms at his mother.
"Of course you didn't know I needed a tutor. Here's a news flash for you, Ma and Pa. I'm dumb as shit. I never tried in school and I failed every test I took. But of course you didn't know that. You're never home, right? And I'll have you know, I'm actually starting to get my shit together because of Eddie's help. I'm actually starting to pass tests again. And I'm not causing as much trouble in my classes anymore. But what's that matter, you're never home."
Richie was upset. He didn't like to admit that he still missed his parents, because they'd been going on these trips for so long. He was angry that they didn't care enough to listen, and he was annoyed that they rarely called, but he was upset that they weren't in his life like they should be.
"I'm in high school now, I'm gonna have to start deciding my future real quick. And most kids my age have their parents to rely on, when they don't know what to do. I don't have a fucking idea what I'm doing, and I can't even ask you guys for help."
"Richard, are you drunk?" This was the first time Wentworth had really spoken up, and Richie could only respond with a dry chuckle.
"I'm not, actually, just pissed. I missed you guys and the time you had to come home was when I was with Eddie. Speaking of, I'm going back up to him, because he's a nervous wreck and is probably beside himself with anxiousness. He's gonna hate that this is the first impression you got of him. So please, for Eddie's sake, we'll start fresh tomorrow. I can properly introduce you guys, and we can catch up. Alright?" Richie started walking out of the kitchen again, hearing responses from his parents. But this time he was stopped by Nick.
"Yes Nick?" Richie stopped in his tracks and turned to face his brother.
"I'm just looking out for you, little brother." Nick smiled, pulling out his wallet. He flicked through it, until he pulled out a condom, throwing it at Richie. Richie caught it and blushed when he realized what it was, stuffing it in his pocket and finally heading back upstairs to see Eddie.
"I thought you said he wasn't home." Was the first thing Eddie said when Richie walked into his room. He was pacing back and forth, tugging at his hair. He had also put on one of Richie's hoodies, which almost made it look like he had no bottoms on because he was wearing shorts. Richie didn't dwell on that though.
"He wasn't supposed to be. He told me he was gonna be at the bar until midnight but he went to pick up my parents instead. They were tryna surprise me." Richie tried to explain. He sat in his desk chair and his knees spread lazily; neither of them were horny anymore.
"This is so embarrassing. Your parents are literally going to hate me. The first time they ever see me is in bed with you? What if they think I'm a slut or something? What's are they gonna do? What are they gonna say?" Eddie could feel his breathing speeding up so he bolted to grab his inhaler, taking a puff before sitting next to Richie on the bed.
"To you? They will say and do nothing. They are not gonna think you're a slut. They don't get to say anything about you, they're never around and they don't know you. Although, Nick may tease us a bit. He already gave me this before coming back up here." Richie reached to grab the condom out of his pocket and showed it to Eddie, who could only turn pink and look away with a shy smile on his face. "Tomorrow we're gonna get off on a fresh start, with proper introductions. Do you wanna go to your house really quick and get stuff to spend the night? Or do you want me to drive you home?"
"Can we please just stay here? I could borrow more of your clothes, if you don't mind." Eddie yawned halfway through his sentence. Richie smiled at how cute he looked.
"Of course you can borrow more of my clothes. You look better in them than I do." Richie winked and Eddie rolled his eyes. "Do you wanna call your mom really quick?" Richie pulled on his bedtime clothes, grabbing some things for Eddie as well.
"I already texted her I was staying here for the night while you were downstairs." Eddie said in a quiet voice.
"Alright Eds. Goodnight." Richie crawled into bed and the two took their regular places wrapped in each other's arms, sleeping peacefully through the night.
They would worry about the new introduction in the morning.
