"Bye Eds. I'll see ya later okay?" Richie said as Eddie got out of the car. They had just left the quarry and Eddie got a drive with Richie.

"Bye Chee. I'll see you tomorrow." Eddie sealed the deal with a kiss before closing his door and Richie drove off. Eddie walked into the house with a dopey smile on his face, happy that the losers now knew about the relationship. The next step they would have to take would be to become open to the public, but the pair weren't planning on doing that yet.

"Hi Eddie. How was your day?" Eddie walked into the house to see his mom watching reruns of MasterChef.

"It was really good. Me and Rich went to the quarry with the rest of the losers and told them that we're dating." Eddie sat on the chair across from his mother. "How was your day?"

"It was same old same old at work. But for lunch I had-what's on your neck?" Eddie had sat directly next to the table lamp that Sonia had switched on as soon as she saw Richie pull into the driveway.

And immediately Eddie was reminded of the janitor's closet incident with Richie at school today. His hand went up to where he knew the hickey was and covered it, trying to mask it but to no avail. Sonia was Sonia, of course.

"Nothing."

"Edward Kaspbrak, I know what the fuck that is. Are you being safe?"

And Eddie almost fell off the couch.

"Mom I swear, I swear, that it's not like that. It's
just-we hadn't seen each other for a bit and then after he got to school late because of his doctor's appointment it just kinda...happened." Eddie desperately tried to explain himself. Sonia was silent for a few seconds and then her eyebrows raised.

"You did that at school?"

"Well yeah, he has a brother at his house and then you were here, and plus I couldn't skip school. So where else?" And Eddie realized his mistake again.

"If I wasn't here would you have done it here?" Sonia changed the idea.

"Ugh, Mom, I don't know!" Eddie put his face in his hands. "It never happened before and I don't know. It was just an in the moment thing." The rest of Eddie's words came out muffled.

"Eddie I know that you're sixteen and that you're in high school. But I still want you to be careful, and if you're not ready for anything..."

"Oh my god, Mom! We aren't doing anything! I know what I want and what I don't want, and Richie wouldn't do anything if I wasn't ready anyway. Besides, we've barely been together a month yet, so you don't need to worry. I know you're my mom but I know how to handle myself. Okay?" Eddie finally pulled his face out of hisinvitation look at his mother.

"Alright." She sighed.

"Alright. I'm gonna go to bed now. I love you." Eddie got up and kissed his mom on the cheek.

"Goodnight Eddie. I love you." And then Eddie went up to his room. He walked into his room and closed the door behind him. He turned on the light, and almost screamed when he turned around.

Because there was Richie, laying on his bed with a smug smirk on his face. Eddie looked to see that his window was closed but unlocked, meaning that was how Richie got in.

"What the fuck are you doing here? You almost just have me a fucking heart attack you know." Eddie whispered, dropping his books next to the door and going to lay next to Richie.

"I just wanted to surprise you." Richie said, opening his arms for Eddie to lay in between.

"Well, you succeeded, you dick." Eddie was still panting a little bit from the scare he received. Both boys were silent for a moment, until Eddie spoke again. "Did you hear what we were talking about downstairs?"

"I heard my name, but that's it. You weren't exactly in the next room over Eddie Spaghetti." Richie smiled fondly as he spoke the nickname, making Eddie roll his eyes.

"My mom thinks we're fucking." And Richie almost choked on air. He caught himself before his coughing fit got too loud though, and Eddie giggled.

"She what-now? Not that I'd be opposed or anything." Richie sent a sly smile to his boyfriend, who couldn't see it.

Eddie sat up and turned around so that he was now facing Richie. "Beep beep Richie. I forgot about the hickey when I got home. I walked in and sat next to the light, she saw it, and so on. I told her that we weren't doing anything like that yet and all that, and she said okay. But I know she doesn't believe me. And if she knew you snuck into my room, she'd be convinced that we were." Eddie finished. Richie thought about what Eddie had said for a moment, then smirked.

"Yet?" Was all he asked. Eddie was confused.

"Yet what?"

"You said, that we weren't doing anything like that yet. What exactly are you trying to imply here, Eds?"

And Eddie blushed bright pink. "Well, I dunno Rich. I mean, we are dating. And uh, you know what couples do. But I don't want to yet. It's only been a month. And I know for some people that's too long of a wait, but for me it's not. I wanna wait until I'm comfortable. I don't wanna make it meaningless. I mean, unless you have other plans? I dunno what you want, do you wanna do anything? I mean we can't get, but y'know soon? I can be ready if you are, but not quite yet, and also-"

Richie cut off Eddie's rambling with a kiss to his lips. When Richie pulled away, Eddie looked at him with big doe eyes, lips parted just slightly and cheeks tinged pink.

"Baby, I'm not worried about that shit. We don't gotta do anything till marriage if that's what you want. I like you, it's not just a sex thing. I'm ready whenever you're ready, but you're right. Not yet."

Eddie kissed Richie again before realizing what his boyfriend had said.

"Marriage?!" Eddie pulled back, and it was Richie'S turn to blush.

"Um, hopefully? We're only sixteen, we've got a long path ahead of us before marriage. But yeah, not to scare you or anything, but I think I wanna marry you someday Eddie. But anyway, right now we gotta worry about passing high school."

The two were silent for a bit. Eddie couldn't believe that Richie, Trashmouth, was thinking about marriage. Marriage with him.

"Are you sleeping over Chee?" Eddie asked as he yawned.

"I'd love to Eds but I don't wanna risk your mom coming in. If she already thinks we're fucking we don't gotta give her anymore evidence." Eddie pouted as Richie got out of the bed. "I'll see you tomorrow baby." Richie leaned down to give Eddie a last quick kiss before walking over to the window and crawling back out of it.

Eddie sighed, and he knew he was well on his way to being in love. But he also knew well enough that it was way too fucking early in the relationship to bring up those feelings.
