It was Friday night. I was getting ready for my date with Daniel. I'm not much of a dress kind of girl. I put on some black ripped jeans and a baby blue and white striped off the shoulder long sleeved top. I curled my hair a little bit to give it some volume and wave to it. I finish up the last finishing touches to my outfit when I heard a knock on the door.

Y: "Come in", I yelled. Zach came walking in.
Z: "Oh, you're going somewhere?"
Y: "Yeah, Daniel and I are going on a date", I said nonchalantly as I look at myself in the mirror.
Z: "You're going on a date with one of my friends? Well, I guess Daniel is better than Jonah". I looked at him confused.
Y: "What's so bad about Jonah?", I asked.
Z: "Nothing's wrong with him, it's just I don't think he's good for my sister to date".
Y: "Um first of all, it's step-sister", I said with a soft laugh indicating I was joking, "and second Jonah's not a bad guy".
Z: "You've only known him for a couple weeks and I've known him for a couple years. I'm pretty sure I know him better than you do. He's a player y/n... And he'll break your heart".

The doorbell rings and I head downstairs knowing that it was Daniel. I open the door and I wasn't expecting him to be here.

Y: "Jonah! What are you doing here?", I asked shockingly. He raised his eyebrow.
Jo: "I'm here to hangout with Zach".

Oh. To hang out with Zach, his friend. I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding in and let Jonah in.

Jo: "So where are you going?", he asked looking me up and down.
Y: "I'm going on a date", I said with a smile. He looked at me with a jealous look.
Jo: "With who?", the doorbell rings right before I was about to answer.
Y: "He's here!", I squealed.

I open the door to reveal Daniel holding a bouquet of sunflowers. I smiled and gave him a hug and let him in.

Jo: "Daniel?!", he said shockingly. I turn to him.
Y: "Yeah, is that a problem?", I asked him while smirking at him. He rolled his eyes and walked to Zach who was sitting in the living room. My dad comes out of his office. "Hey honey, where're you off to?", he asked while giving me a side hug. "I'm going on a date with Daniel", I said gesturing over to Daniel. They both shake hands. "It's nice to meet you sir", Daniel says with a confident smile. My dad looks at Daniel with a soft smile, "You too Daniel. So where're you kiddos going?". Daniel looks at me then back at my dad, "We're going bowling and then to a park with a lake". My dad looks at the both of us, "Okay, have fun you two!".

As you can tell my dad wasn't like "normal" dads. He didn't question my date(s) because he trusted me and knew I wouldn't take any shit from any guy. The whole time my dad and Daniel were meeting each other I could see Jonah look over every now and then giving a jealous look and shaking his head. Daniel and I walk over to Zach and Jonah.

Y: "Okay, well we're going"
Jo: "Good, hope you guys have fun", Jonah says sarcastically. I gave him a mean and disgusted look.
Z: "Have fun!", Daniel and I start walking away, "and Daniel... Don't try anything with my sister", he said seriously. I look behind me looking at Zach.
Y: "Step-sister", I joked.

Daniel and I made it to the bowling alley and we finally got a lane after waiting 20 minutes. We put our nicknames in the computer.

Y: "Really? D-ster?", I asked him.
D: "Really? Brown-Eyed Baby?", he said laughing. I rolled my eyes and lightly pushed him with my good hand.

We start bowling and I was winning by 45 points.

Y: "You know, you kinda suck", I said jokingly, "I mean come on, I have a broken hand over here", I said while holding up my hand. He rolled his eyes and rolled the bowling ball getting a strike. He was starting to catch up...

We finished our game of bowling.
D: "Who sucks now?", he asked with a smirk pointing to the screen that had our points on there. He beat me by 3 points. I rolled my eyes.
Y: "Oh come on, you barely even beat me", I said annoyingly.

We get to our final destination, the park. Daniel and I get out of the car, he opens the back seat and takes out a soccer ball.

Y: "How'd you know I love soccer?", I asked. I've been playing ever since I was 8.
D: "I have my sources", he said with a smirk. We look at each other and say the same thing at the same time while rolling our eyes, "Zach". We both laughed.

We played soccer together for a little while and then once we got a little tired Daniel went to his car and took out a picnic basket and a little blanket. He comes jogging back over to me with a big smile on his face.

His smile. It had to have been the cutest smile I've ever seen in my life. He had a little tooth gap in between his two front teeth, it was adorable. But when he smiles he just lights up and anyone can tell from miles away how happy this guy was.

Daniel and I placed down the blanket by the lake and we sat down. He took all of the food out of the picnic basket one by one.

D: "Okay, so we got two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, some carrots, two apple juice pouches, and for dessert we have a slice of homemade cheesecake I made last night", he said with a huge smile.

I looked at him as he pulled out each item and just admired how adorable this guy is. I mean he pulled out two freaking apple juice pouches, how cute!

He handed me my peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
D: "For m'lady", he said while doing a little bow. I gave a soft laugh.
Y: "Oh why thank you my good sir", I said with a terrible impersonation of a British accent. We both laugh uncontrollably.

After a couple minutes we catch our breaths and stop laughing. Daniel was staring at me.

Y: "What? Is there something on my face?", I asked concerned. He laughs a little and shakes his head.
D: "No, it's just...", he starts to say.
Y: "It's just what?"
D: "You have a really great laugh".

I blush a little bit at his compliment. It was so sincere and you could tell that he was being honest. It was also a unique compliment. No one has ever told me that I have a great laugh.

We finished eating and after we ate we talked for a bit. I learned that he loves to play the guitar and I told him that I play the ukulele, he told me that he hates anything chocolate and I got a little offended at first but I accepted it nonetheless. He told me that he has a younger sister and how his family means everything to him. That was nice to hear. It was so nice because every family has their flaws but you love them anyways no matter. My family may not be your "typical normal family", but I still love my "old" family and I now love my "new" family.

We pack all the things back into the car and head back to my house. Daniel walks me up to my front door.

Y: "I had a great time. Best first date ever!"

Oh yeah, did I forget to mention this was my first date? Oops...

D: "This is your first date?", he asked surprised. I nodded my head with a soft smile.

We looked at each other for what seemed like years and slowly we kept inching closer together. We would look at each other's lips and then back at each other's eyes. Our lips were nearly about to touch-

Jo: "HEYO!", Jonah screamed while opening the door swiftly.

Daniel and I both jumped  and looked at Jonah with an annoyed look while Jonah was smiling. Daniel looks back at me and gives me a warm hug.

D: "I'll see you Monday, y/n", he says while walking off. I wave goodbye.

Once Daniel was out of sight I quickly turn back around to Jonah who was now smirking.

Jo: "What happened? Did I ruin a moment you guys were having?", he asked evilly. I roll my eyes.
Y: "Uh yeah kinda"
Jo: "Oh well, too bad", he said while smirking.

Ugh I swear, boys.
