"Blackpaw..you..took his eye out.." Firepaw mewed with no feeling.
"N-no, I-I didn't mean to!" Blackpaw cowered to his brother, staring in fear at the eyes he saw once again that were even coated in fear within his brothers eyes, "Honest!"
Firepaw stepped back slowly away from Blackpaw, "No..you meant to.." He said coldly, "I just want to know what you were thinking-"
"I wanted to make you proud, Firepaw..you're my only brother. The only one I have left that hasn't completely abandoned me yet!" Blackpaw meowed over him terrified, "Maybe the only one I'll have after this, if you'll be willing to stay by me with this..w-we can ask Minnowpaw to be quiet about this then nobody will know since everyone is still asleep right now!" Blackpaw stepped towards Firepaw and pressed his muzzle on his, "We can still be brothers, right?"
Firepaw began to hyperventilate, he shoved Blackpaw away.
Blackpaw stood a few inches away now in confusion to stare at his brother.
"Blackpaw..you're no brother of mine anymore." Firepaw began, "Here, and from now on..Black-Bla-p.." He sniffled not knowing how to say it to his own flesh and blood, "We are no longer brothers..and, I don't want you around me anymore."
"Firepaw, I-"
"Forever! Forever and ever, I don't want you to so much as talk or go near me..or else, I'll tell everyone what you did to Minnowpaw's eye!" Firepaw threatened, "Since we were kin, I will ask Minnowpaw when he mentally recovers the loss of his eye, to not tell anyone what happened..so that no one looks at me the same way they will at you. A monster."
Thundertail, who still sat nearby with a new cat that was Tatterdpaw, both sat to watch what Blackpaw was going to do because they were so pleased of what he had done to Minnowpaw.
Blackpaw stared at Firepaw not knowing how to process this..he lost his brother.
Firepaw stood farther away with reversal paws that made him spin around then charge into the medicine cat den to be near Hawkpaw and the still in shock Minnowpaw.
Again, leaving Blackpaw alone with his unsettling thoughts..
"Blackpaw, that was amazing!" Thundertail praised.
Tatterdpaw watched Blackpaw, emphasizing with how he felt in every mile he saw Blackpaw drift away from on a dark path that even Tatterdpaw knew so well.
Thundertail went over to Blackpaw with his tail held high, "No one taught you how to do anything like that and yet you took the eye out of your bully!"
Tatterdpaw followed him, "Thundertail, too soon-"
"What, he knows how it feels now to covered in the blood of his enemies! It's a great feeling, you loved it too, Tatterdpaw."
Blood of my enemies..? Blackpaw thought, he dreaded to look..but he did anyway to stare in absolute horror of the long pools of blood that he saw started from his claws to his shoulder.
Not even thinking, Blackpaw dashed out of the clan with a blood soaked path following behind him at every turn he tried to throw it off until he got to the river.
At least down the forest path he stopped at the river bank where the rabbit had taken him to when he was a kit to almost drown. This time, he was going to stop himself from drowning in the blood that was still on him that belonged to an innocent cat.
In the water, Blackpaw saw himself with what he was becoming.. Something unrecognizable and hideous to anyone that suffered to see him as a black apprentice with blood covered claws. A monster, exactly what he brother said was true.
"I'm sorry, Firepaw..I just wanted to make you be proud of me..now, I just want you to love me again, I promise I'll be good.." Blackpaw whined, plunging his drenched with blood paw into the chilling water, he closed his eyes not wanting to see it wash off.
"This way," A she-cat voice directed from across the river, "Dump it in here then let it float away to the others."
Blackpaw looked up quickly then began scattering to hide beneath a patch of swaying cat tails that grew near the river, he sat to watch and listen.
Across the river again he noticed an odd and similar aroma that he knew was blood because it was the same sickening smell that was on his limb from before.
Out from the weeds, a dark brown she-cat with distinctive black stripes walked out with two other cats following behind her.
Blackpaw's good and torn ear leaned forward to listen carefully at all three of them now.
"Make sure it floats." The she-cat demanded at them.
The two other cats that looked tired for some reason, ducked both their heads in the weeds they entered from to bring forth a corpse of a cat; the cat had bite marks and a huge amount of missing flesh and bones that made it look like it was eaten alive before this.
Blackpaw gasped from being to speechless.
"Cedarstar, do you think the other clans have noticed what we've been doing?" A cat asked his leader.
Cedarstar glanced around on the side of the river she was on, that was shared territory with Jadeclan that made her worry the most, "No, but I believe that dumping remains in the river is what made Brindlestar so weak and ill from the gathering last night..I think we may be able to take this whole territory after all if we attack sometime tonight."
The two cats that dragged the corpse to the edge of the riverbank finally pushed in the remains to allow it to float, then drift away.
One of the cats looked at Cedarstar, "Will this be the last killing?"
Cedarstar shook her head, "Unless you want to starve of hunger, Skystream, then maybe this shouldn't be the last one at all. Although, until we defeat Jadeclan for their luck with prey, then perhaps it will all be over..but now, we must all fight in this present and not dwell in an unknown future that we don't even know we may make it through."
Skystream, a brown and white she cat with curious pale green eyes checked across the river for anyone instead of just her side of the river.
Blackpaw's ears went back in hopes he wouldn't be seen by these murderous cats; though, he couldn't be a hypocrite since he took Minnowpaw's eye out.
Thankfully the three cats exited the same way they came from through the weeds, to become out of sight from Blackpaw.
"So, there were more killings to begin with?" Thundertail meowed curiously, breaking the comforting silence.
Blackpaw slightly lept off the ground to find Tatterdpaw and Thundertail sitting beside him, "Th-there were more?" Blackpaw stuttered, "But, why?"
Tatterdpaw didn't care for Blackpaw's question, he started walking alongside the riverbank, trying to lead his mentor and Blackpaw too.
Since Thundertail trained Tatterdpaw since the red apprentice died, he followed immediately, "Come along, Blackpaw, where this river goes is where you'll be able to answer your own question."
And so, the two cats followed Tatterdpaw alongside the riverbank.
