Thundertail's tail swayed in amusement, "Nothing to say, do you? We've heard about your interest..and we find you very.."

Tatterdpaw looked at Blackpaw.

"Interesting.." Thundertail finished as he sat down to wrap his tail around his paws, "Isn't loneliness lonely to you yet, even in the slightest because you don't look anything like your brother and mother?"

Blackpaw dropped his head, his tail lowly flicking on the ground, "Mother told me once that my pelt would brighten up one day when i'm old enough.."

Obviously knowing what his mentor was doing, Tatterdpaw looked at both of them impassively to understand what really can make a cat weak..

A sigh came from Thundertail, "Precious kit.." He said, his head held high with a narrowed gaze, "You, are really dumb."

A cat can be broken down by simple things, like pain or just sometimes the usual of self doubt; but it's when reality comes crashing down..it can hit faster than a tear rolling down your cheek and onto the ground..sometimes regular or just in hopes to be non-existent, is when it really hurts the most, Blackpaw. Tatterdpaw thought to himself, witnessing the black apprentice summon his own self-doubt, When will you realize how much pain is really a burden upon yourself and others you've met? You, are pure darkness..it resembles you..I see that now.

Blackpaw's eyes stretched wide, "What do you mean..dumb?"

Now Thundertail had the black apprentice right where he wanted him..so, he approached closer and rested his chin lightly on his head, trying to appear sympathetic, "You've been lied to, little one, " He began, then continued, "Your family has been avoiding you since the day their lives fixed back in place, which was on the day of your apprenticeship. See now, they are happier without you, and so your mother would even lie to you to cover up the truth of how she really feels about a black kit in her bright litter."

As expected, Blackpaw stepped back as he felt reality come crashing on him slightly as pain began to jab in his heart, "That's a lie!"

Tatterdpaw sighed, knowing how this would end.

"My brother and mother love me, stop putting stories in my head like this..it's unfair!" He slightly whimpered with a small cracking in his tone.

Thundertail stayed his distance and nodded his head with a tilt, wanting Tatterdpaw to interact.

"Love dies." Tatterdpaw said, creeping closer to Blackpaw, "Their love died altogether where Starclan doesn't even have a clue..love is pointless, all that happens from love is just agonizing pain. So, Blackpaw," He mewed, "This is your chance to stop feeling the way you do-"

"Stop it, stop this! it hurts.." Blackpaw begged.

A subtle growl escaped Thundertail towards his apprentice that he felt was not trying hard enough to do as he'd wanted.

So, with Thundertail giving the death glare of all his moons, Tatterdpaw went closer to Blackpaw's side to face him with his eyes locked on Blackpaw's, "Would you trade your pain over a great desire of happiness, or would you let yourself  break down to their level?"

Something inside snapped within Blackpaw; instead of tears, his eyes shook with anger and with what was left of his sadness, he breathed in deeply as he tried to compose what little of himself he had left..he was dumb after all. Always believing in the good and never believing in the bad, how long would his imagination have lasted if he hadn't felt this pain that was really a new perspective on how dumb he really was?

This wasn't a regular pain, this was sadness and self-pity he had for himself not realizing it. Somehow, he wasn't afraid of it as much as he tried to think he was before.

Suddenly, he didn't feel normal..was this really pain for him? just his eyes opening to what really was going on when his mother and brother had decided to keep their distance..?

"Do you see now, young kit?" Thundertail asked, "How dumb were you to think that good things would come from being the black kit?"

Tatterdpaw sighed silently, pitying Blackpaw.

Before they could add anything else from either side, Blackpaw felt himself drifting away from the world as he began to wake up from his apparent nightmare.

His eyes opened wide to see a fiery bundle of fur staring down at him, "I have to go to the gathering tonight, will you be alright here? Mother is coming too, you'll basically be in here alone as well.." Firepaw said, "Sootpelt said if you need anything, just go to him and-"

Without knowing, Blackpaw pinned Firepaw on his back and rested his head on his tuft as he slowly began to fall apart, "Please don't leave me..not again.."

Firepaw slowly sat up to leave his brother still pressed up to him in his fit of sadness that not even he could understand, "Blackpaw..I really have to go, I'm sorry." He mumbled, getting to his paws after lifting Blackpaw by his scruff and setting him on the ground, "I'll be back tomorrow to listen whatever got into you. All of us will, no doubt. But, can't you be happy for me in the slightest instead of begging me to stay to tend to your cry for attention because mother and I've been busy?" Firepaw accidentally hissed, but after realizing it he didn't care, "Congratulate me like a normal litter-mate would when I get back."

Eventually, Blackpaw watched his brother exit the den without a final glance from the young bright tom.

So there Blackpaw was, sitting in his nest.

More alone than ever before.

I really am dumb..
