--) Honeydew's POV (--

I followed Lalna into a large tent just outside his tainted castle. Lalna didn't want him in his lab. I zipped the tent closed behind me to keep the tainted bees out. I shivered and turned to see Lalna and Nano standing next to Xephos.

"Nano, pass me that green stuff" Lalna said, motioning to the desk. "Mmm okay" Nano said absentmindedly passing him the bottle, never taking her eyes off Xephos. I came and stood next to her. After a while of Lalna working and Nano not saying anything, I decided to break the silence. "Lalna, is he going to be alright?" I asked the dreaded question.

Lalna's mouth was a thin line. "It's not looking good. Not at all" he said sadly. But he still worked. "You alright, Nano?" I asked the girl who seemed to have dazed out. "They speak to me" she said, her voice slightly distorted. I took a step away from Nano. "W-what?" I said. Lalna didn't seem to notice.

"They call for me. He's coming back. Mother follows" she continued, still staring at Xephos. Instantly, Honeydew noticed his chest begin to squirm. Before I could warn Lalna, Xephos had jumped up from the table and strangled the scientist. Purple tendrils crept from Xephos' arms and around his neck, choking him.

Once Lalna had fallen to the ground, dead or unconscious I couldn't tell, Xephos turned to me. His eyes glowed purple, with the same coloured fumes flowing from his hands. I was paralyzed as he advanced on me.

"Mother told me about you, friend" he said in the same distorted voice as Nano. She stood in the corner, watching with glassy eyes. Xephos took me into the same choke hold as he did with Lalna. "Friend-" I choked, grabbing at his arm. "D-Don't you remember me?" I tried to breath, it felt like my chest was being compressed. Even my dwarven strength couldn't free me.

"I remember you, old friend" Xephos said with an evil grin on his face. "I remember you well"

The world started to fade. I guess I should have listened when my best friend said run.
