"Are you alright?" Elijah said and I immediately sat up straight again. I didn't make eye contact because I knew if I would crack.
"I'm fine," I mumbled.
"Well?" I looked at him confused. Well what?
Then it hit me, "Oh, um, no," it was almost as if I was questioning myself.
"Okay, I wasn't expecting you to know him anyway," Elijah said clearing his throat. Oh, I know him alright.
"As you know I am the boss-"
"Of the Silver Serpents," I interrupted. Why did I do that?
"How did you know that?" Elijah looked confused yet almost angry. He looked like he was trying to keep his composure.
"Your tattoo, on your wrist," I quietly answered. "It's a silver snake and I've heard the name before." This time I spoke a bit more confidently. He nodded without saying anything else.
"So this whole thing about Romano Capitani?" I asked, really I just wanted him to say nothing but he replied,
"Nothing you need to know." I rolled my eyes. Really?
We sat in silence for a few minutes. I'm not going to say it felt like forever like everyone does, cause it wasn't. It literally felt like a few minutes.
"So, I have a question," I chirped. He turned from looking out of the window and gestured for me to carry on. "Why now?"
"What?" He asked confused.
"Why now?" I asked again before making myself clearer. "Logan has made a scene multiple times and this time you choose to do something."
He looked taken back. As if to wonder why I would ask that.
"Oh come on, just answer," I said after a minute silence.
He looked a deep breath before answering,
"You ever wonder why Logan used to come back with bruises all over him?" Elijah asked.
"Not really," I shrugged and his brows furrowed. "He's always getting into fights, well that's just what he says."
He took a step towards me and sighed.
"I've seen him hitting you but not as hard as he was going to today," Elijah said while sitting in the chair in front of me. "The reason he came home with bruises is because I-" He stopped his sentence and stood back up.
"That was you?"I followed him in standing up. He walked over to the window, one of his fists clenched and the other through his hair.
Again, we stood in silence.
I hadn't even realized that I had started to tear up. After dad, no one was there for me. No one was there to protect me from my mother and brother.
"Thank you," I threw my arms around him.
For a second he didn't know what to do, but eventually he wrapped his arms around my waist. I put my head against his chest and tried to hold my tears in.
"No problem," he replied quietly.
For about 20 minutes we stood, him holding me and I felt much better than usual. I hadn't hugged someone in ages.
Suddenly there was a sound coming from the door.
We immediately let go of each other and brushed ourselves off. Never do that again.
I followed Elijah as he went through the massive house and towards the front door.
As he walked down the stairs to the door, I stayed at the top. I didn't want to intrude and I let Elijah go by himself.
I was just about in view of the door. But oh god I wish I wasn't.
When the door opened a man stood there. He shook hands with Elijah and came in. That was when I saw who he was.
Kill me now.
