Pressing Forward

When I came too everything was dark. I knew my eyes were open. I could feel the way my lashes and eyelids clung together when I blinked hard. But they were rubbing up against something soft like cotton. I shifted and little. My hands and feet were bound by...duct tape. The sticky stuff pulled at my arm hairs. Less severe than hot wax, but it still stung. Delilah was right, they really are inexperienced.

"Don't move," Someone said as they pressed a hard metallic barrel onto my head. I complied. They took the cover off of my head. The room was lit only by a few battery powered lanterns. But I could see everything. The walls were metal, and so was the floor. Private Kenshey across from me in another chair. Same bounds. Thank god he's okay too. Delilah, Manning, Ness, and Greene were nowhere to be seen. I can only hope they're not in this situation too. There were three people around us. A guy and a woman in camo. The one holding the gun walked around my chair and stared me in the eye. Make that two guys and a woman. Each with bright neon eyes. Cured beyond a doubt.

"What have we got here?" He said sarcastically, "Some lowly cops who think they're hot shit." He circled around me a second time and then Kenshey. His friends giggled. "When are you going to learn?"

Learn what? Dear god, does he think this is a Marvel movie? The woman stood next to me and the other guy took a spot next to Kenshey. They looked at each other for an awkward moment, then the leader guy nodded. They still stood glancing at him with confusion.

"Do it..." he whispered from his teeth jerking his head at us. The two gave us a synchronized kick to the stomach and then laughed in unison. But we didn't even flinch. That was a kick? Do some squats for fuck sake, that was nothing. That didn't even hurt. What the fuck are they doing? Seriously? If this is meant to scare us then they're failing miserably. Kenshey is the biggest guy on the force that I know. It would take a lot more than a sissy kick to phase him.

"Cut the act Dr. Doom, you're not scary," Kenshey said in his deep voice. Clraly he and I are on the same wavelength.

"Yeah, just get to the point we don't have all day," I added.

"Hey, I'm in charge here! I got the gun!" He squealed waving it around. I hope to hell the safety is on. We both laughed hard. Deep kind of laugh that's from your uninjured belly. He sounded so immature. Dare I say silly? Yeah, silly. I wish I could say I didn't meant it. But I did. This was a joke of a kidnapping.

The leader stomped his feet, turned around and shot the gun. He missed, big time, and got his guy-friend in the foot.

He started jumping up and down and crying, "Ow! Ow! Man! What the fuck!? Why did you do that?" I could smell the blood and noticed how it trickled from his shoe.

The woman ran over to him and the leader stood in place trying to justify himself. Kenshey was already out of his bounds and gone, but they didn't notice. Foxgloves are notorious for being stealthy. I lifted my arms high and threw them down breaking the duct tape. I heard Kenshey step beside me and break the tape on my feet. Free at last. We may not have our weapons, but were still going to fuck these bastards up.

"Get the gun," Kenshey said. I threw the thickest web from the palm of my hand and nabbed the gun as the leader was waving it around. Seriously, did nobody at least give these people any pointers? It was an easy grab. I shot the floor at their feet. Making them dance, like in the western movies. Kenshey got behind them and gave each of them a punch to the head, knocking them down. The leader ran to the other  side of the room flailing his arms Muppet style. I aimed my fingers at his head and wound up getting his hands. He stopped dead in his tracks trying to wipe it all off

"Ew, ew, ew..." he said desperately wiping the silk all over his pants.

The other two were starting to regain their composure. I acted fast. I picked up the woman by her jacket and slammed her onto the wall with a loud smack. She clutched her hands around my neck and began to squeeze tight. I dropped her on the floor. She tried to crawl away on her hands and knees but I used both my hands to sling a net. She was stuck to the floor like a fly in a web. No reference intended. Easy as one, two, three. The other guy was being held upside down by Kenshey.
