"I made a promise," I vehemently told Stover. We were in the interview rooms again. Number 005 this time. On the other side of the glass was a new witness Anita Limacher. Rae's aunt, and the woman I promised no harm would come to. She sat  at the little table. Her thumbs tapping  rhythmically or her hands skimming the rim of her Styrofoam coffee cup. Nobody told her why she was called here. But she started the thrumming the moment we left her alone.

"You realize, whether she likes it or not, if she is an instrument of this whole thing. She's going to face some kind of charge," Stover complained to me. I've been trying everything in the book to make sure we could avoid actually booking her.

"She may not even be aware of whats going on. Her superiors could have been lying to her for all we know. That's why shes here!" I argued. Sometimes I think I may have been an attorney in a past life.

Stover huffed and faced the glass. Chief and Delilah walked into the interview room.  Anita stopped moving and looked straight at them. Body language looking good.

"Good afternoon Mrs. Limacher, how are you?" Delilah asked.

"I'm well," She responded robotic making direct eye contact.

"We're sorry to call you in so suddenly, but we were made aware that you work for Swoosh Bio," Chief stated.

Anita seemed to relax a little bit, she uncrossed her hands and legs, "Yes, I've been an associate researcher there for a little over four years. The longest I've worked with any medical or pharmaceutical."

"So, your background is in biology" Delilah said. Its an easy interview tactic, getting them to relax by starting a simple conversations. Asking things about themselves, about what they like, about their families, or anything pleasant. It helps them relax. We also bring in coffee and doughnuts to seal the deal. Its not just us who likes a doughy delight.

"Yes," Anita said, "I have a masters degree in molecular biology."

"You're hell of a lot smarter than us then," Delilah joked and they all laughed together.  "But listen, can you tell me honestly what your most recent project is?"

"Yes, I've been manipulating gene reproduction in white blood cells. With any luck this can help us get closer to finding treatments for blight and even some cancers," Anita explained.

"And the efficacy of these white blood cells, how do you test it?" Cheif asked transitioning the conversation to the details of the project. I think I know where he is going with this.

"We observe their reaction to foreign bodies. Usually dulled forms of the rhino virus." She said looking to the side and flipping her hair. Not a good sign

"And have you been using that same string of virus on all your projects?" Delilah added.

"How is this at all relevant?" She defensibly claimed, "You still haven't told me why I'm even here". She starting twitching her left leg. Dammit, looks like her relaxed got exchanged for a bit of skepticism.

Cheif opened his folder and pulled out an image of two men I have never seen before, " Do you recognize this person?" he said pointing to the one on the left.

"Yes," Anita answered quickly, "That's Dr. Rogers he's my boss."

"And the guy next to him?" He asked.

"Raymond, his brother. He owns Swosh Bio. Why? Did they do something wrong?"

Her eyes were wide as she gave a concerned look to each of them. Her body was focused, tho trembling a little. She didn't fidget or look away. God, I cant get a solid read on her body language. Shes all over the fucking map.
