Ponyboys POV
I was waiting quietly in the Hospital lobby with Johnny by my side. The Doctors wouldn't tell us a damn thing on how Kerri was, but gave us some details on Dallas's situation. And because of that Johnnys been beating himself up pretty bad. Just then, I saw Kerri being rolled by on a hospital bed.

She was burnt. Very burnt. Her skin was now red. And her blonde hair was black. She was out cold. But I saw a tear rolling down her right cheek, indicating that she's in pain.

I got lost in my train of thought, right when Dallas began to roll by as well.
"If you ever pull a stunt like that again Kids, I'm gonna kill you. Kerri, oh my god, poor Kerri."

Johnny then began to bawl.

"That should'a been me Ponyboy! I should be the one hurt! Not Kerri! Not-" his voice began to trail off.

"Johnnycake. She'll be alright. She's gotta be." I sniffed, on the verge of tears. But as I felt one roll down my cheek, I saw the whole gang down the hall.

Johnny and I ran up to them, just to be devoured by a hug and by their voices.

"I thought we lost you like we did mom and dad." Darry sobbed

"Johnny Cade your gonna be alright." Cried Steve.

"Pony your tough hair." Laughed Two-Bit.

"Where's Kerri?" Sodapop asked, silently crying.

It laid silent for a moment, but when I opened my mouth to speak, my voice was replaced with Johnnys.

"K-Kerri's not d-doing very w-well," Johnny stuttered, crying even harder than before. "She pushed me out of the way, s-so a burning piece of wood w-wouldn't fall on me. B-but instead it fell on h-her."

I heard gasps coming from most of the gang, who all had horrified looks on their faces. They also had looks of pain, sorrow. So Darry thought it best, to take Johnny and I home.

Kerri's POV
(Back in the ambulance)
I was passed out, but I could still feel and hear everything that we going on around me.

They threw me onto, what seemed to be a hospital bed, and strapped me in. I could tell they threw me because it felt like all my bones just broke. And it burned. Oh I can't even explain how much it burned. We then started moving.

I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs about how much pain I was in, but couldn't. My throat was sore, and burned just as bad. And no matter how hard or how long I tried, not a single word came out.

So I laid there, silently pleading for help, while people were talking amongst themselves. I then heard a familiar voice. A voice that belonged to Dally.

"How is she man?" He asked in a faint groggy voice. I could sense that he was hurt too. Just not as badly, do to the fact that he was able to talk.

"We don't know." Said a man, who's voice was clearer to make out than Dallases. He was closer to me than Dally, and the 2nd way I could tell was because he patted me on the shoulder.

There goes the bones. And the burns. And the pain. I had to scream, and so I did. But know one heard me. He did it again.

The pain only got worse. And so did the screaming. If somebody had to describe what it sounded like, they would describe it as a blood boiling scream.

Then finally I made a noise.

"What was that man?" Dally asked in a panicked tone. I then heard shuffling, then a very monotoned voice.

"Sir. Your gonna have to stay put."

"No! What if she- what if she?!" He said panicked, but his voice trailed off into silence.
