"What is wrong with you, Ar?"
"Nothing."Arabella answered blankly.
"Ugh." Arielle groaned, hitting her fist on the table.
"I told you I'm fine, there's nothing wrong with me." Arabella had been repeating the lie so much recently it was starting to sound real to her own ears.
"You've been acting like this ever sense that concert, what happened to you? You used to be fun, no just alive even." Arielle muttered mostly to herself, but the comment made Arabella flinch. She thought she'd been acting fine, she tried but she just didn't know what to do. "If it's your wrist, I know, I know your overdue Ar, if it's that tell me."
"You don't understand, the numbers are red, I'm hopeless." Arabella sighed, pressing her face into her leather jacket. No one remotely understood her anymore, everyone her age had already found their. . . match but she hadn't.
"I'll look it up, just hang on okay?" Arielle patted her back before leaving, the door shut behind her softly as Arabella rocked in her chair.
Honestly it had controlled her, but not now. She'd try after this to not be the weighted down person, the person with a set schedule. She had to change for Arielle and for Alex, her only two friends. She considered Alex her friend even though she's only talked to him for less than a minute but he'd made an impact just as she made one in his life.
Alex, the guy in a band and Arielle, her crazy best friend.
Arabella grabbed her boots, lacing them up sloppily before heading outside, the next person she met, she'd talk to them to change herself.
Unless she didn't like them, personality wise but a start was a start.
"Hi, I'm Matt."
"Arabella."
"So Matt, what do you do?"
"Oh I'm in a band." He said casually.
"Of course." She responded, it just seemed like the natural thing to do.
Arabella lowered the volume on her music as she continued talking to him.
Best (spontaneous) decision ever because Matt was funny and sure as hell not cliche.
