"Act sick! Keep the clothes hidden!" W. whispered, as he opened the door. A bald officer with a big nose and pale skin was standing there. "We're looking for a man and a child that we believe to be in the area. Do you mind if I come in?" "By all means..." W. replied and gestured for him to step inside, then got out of his way. "The man and the boy's description we have to go on, matches your height, honestly." "Not denying that we do, but there a lot of fathers that are my height and this kid is only 4 feet tall... He's the size of a kid!" "Yeah... Do you mind if I look around for minute?" "Go for it. If you want anything just let me know!" "Thank you." The officer replied. He looked under the beds, under the covers and under the night stand. Then he walked over to the bathroom and looked around. He walked out and looked on the ground again. "No luggage?" W. shrugged. "We had a power outage at my house on Fuller and as you can see... The kid is sick, so I brought him here." Tommy groaned and rolled over. The officer nodded. "Okay, you have a good night! Sorry for the intrusion." "Hey, if somebody is out there, you need to catch them, right? Have a good one!" The officer closed the door and W. held a finger to his lips for a couple minutes. After that, he looked out the window, to see if the officer was still there, but he wasn't near the door. "That was good acting, kid! You almost had me believing you!" "That was close! I thought he had us!" "Well, tomorrow, we're going to need your powers, when we go get our clothes." "I thought you said I needed tomorrow to re-energize?" "You saw it, right? Until we get out of these clothes, they will be looking for us! Turn the T.V. off. Let's get some shut eye. We probably won't even use your powers. They're just a security precaution! Okay?" Tommy nodded and rolled over.
The next day at the mall, they walked swiftly into a sports clothing store nearby. They grabbed two adult size and child size Miami Dolphins jerseys. They grabbed two Miami Dolphins caps and then W. paid for the gear. A minute later, they walked out to the men's room and changed. They smoothly shuffled out and walk over to the Gap outlet. W. grabbed a hoodie for himself and then walked over to the children's section to get a hoodie for Tommy. "Grab four colored shirts you like." W. told Tommy. Tommy went and grabbed a green shirt, a red shirt, a blue shirt and a yellow shirt and handed it to W. Then W. grabbed 4 adult shirts, with different patterns on them. The cashier bagged the clothes, after they paid. Then left the store. They snuck out the mall entrance and walked back to the hotel. After they got back, they put the bags down and Tommy laid back on the bed. "Okay. We're in the clear. You can relax now." Tommy turned on the T.V. with his mind and then he sent Raven back. "I'm gonna go shower! No pranks, kid!" Tommy was watching the news, to see if they'd say anything about them. They mentioned a series of robberies, but so far the only description they have of the suspects, is their height.
W. came from the bathroom in his boxers and dried his head with a towel. "Tomorrow, I want to try something that may or may not make us a bit of money! We'll need your powers!" "What is it?" Tommy asked. "We'll go back to the mall. We'll buy a backpack and you can go up to old ladies and take money from their purses, with your mind. You'll put the money in the bag. You can do the same thing to guys with wallets. Just take the money out of the wallets and toss the wallets in the trash, when you're done. You can snatch necklaces, rings or anything valuable, that you see." "What about the cameras? Won't we get caught?" "Well... We can go into each section for ten minutes and concentrate on shutting them down. Then after we take care of most of the cameras, you'll get started! I'll be nearby, but I'll keep my distance. Wait! You can picture the monitors at the security office to be all static. That way, we'll have more of a chance!" W. said excitedly. An hour later, the pizza came. W. opened the box and handed Tommy a piece, he grabbed a piece for himself and bit in. "Ah man! It's cold!" "I prefer my pizza cold, anyway!" Tommy replied.
They headed to the mall the next afternoon, in their Gap hoodies. It was a busy Saturday at the mall, people crowded everywhere. Tommy went and sat down. He concentrated on turning the monitors in the security office to static, for a few minutes and then concentrated on breaking the security cameras. You could hear popping sounds in the distance and sometimes, you'd see sparks fly! Tommy knew he was at least doing something.
After he finished. Tommy went behind an old woman, whose purse was hanging from her wheelchair and he hung his bag down below her purse. He pictured the money from her purse flying into the bag, as if there was a money magnet inside the bag. He spotted a tall dark haired man in a business suit, slowly crept behind the man and pictured the man's wallet flying into his hand. He walked away and went through the wallet, grabbing all the cash he could find and then dumping the wallet in a nearby trash can. Tommy saw somebody walk away from a register, in a shoe store nearby. He quickly walked inside. "What are you-...?!" W. exclaimed, as he flailed his arms and followed Tommy inside. Tommy focused on the cameras, until they broke and then he snuck behind the register. W. decided to distract the cashier on the floor. "You know... I saw a lace-less sneaker in here, the other day, but I can't remember where I found it! Can you help me?" "What brand was it?" "I can't remember the name, but I can show you where it was. It was higher up, if you could just help me look!" "Okay..." The clerk said, as he walked with W. by an aisle, where he wouldn't see Tommy. Tommy then vacuumed the money into his backpack, closed the register and stumbled out. He ducked down, pretending to tie his shoe, in case he was spotted, then he walked out of the store. "Hey, I think I just saw my kid running, out there! Sorry man, I gotta run!" W. exclaimed, as he rushed out of the store. "That was crazy, kid! No one is supposed to notice! That's the key!" "Did anyone notice?" Tommy asked. "They will!" W. retorted.
A chubby old woman with a gold necklace was walking nearby, so Tommy snuck behind her, snapped her necklace off and vacuumed it into the bag. Next to her, there was a tall blonde girl with her right hand hanging down. She was wearing a diamond ring. So Tommy focused on quickly slipping the ring off her finger and guiding it into his bag. In a store nearby, a man was buying a wedding ring. The cashier rang him up, as he put the case in his pocket. Tommy followed behind the man and snatched the small case, quickly.
Tommy saw an electronics store nearby, so he swooped in. "No, no, no!" W. quietly exclaimed and then followed Tommy inside. Tommy took care of the cameras, but then he noticed the cashier wasn't going anywhere. "Excuse me. I'm looking for a Sony camera, but I can't seem to find it..." "We should have them in stock. Let me show you where they are..." The cashier said, as he guided W. over to the camera section. Tommy opened the register and vacuumed out the cash and proceeded out the door. "Ah ok, I guess I don't have enough... Thanks, anyway." W. said, as he walked out the door, putting his hands in a clutching motion, while looking at Tommy.
Tommy walked over to a blonde haired man in a white polo shirt. He snatched the man's wallet, but then he heard "Hey!" a security guard shouted from behind. Tommy blasted the guard with a blast of energy, W. rushed over next to Tommy. Tommy put his hood up. "Cover your face!" He said, as he put them both in a floating force field. They floated out of the mall and into the air. There were cameras in the parking lot, so Tommy didn't want W. to be seen. Tommy covered his face, as well.
"So much for not attracting attention! Let's just hope we won't end up on the news!" "This was your idea!" Tommy fired back. "Yeah, but the floating force field was a bit much! Anyhow, we hit another bank tomorrow and then we take a week off. We need to start laying low!" W. said, with a bit of tension in his voice.
