I was walking down the stairs to see all the lights on. I rubbed my eyes tiredly as I smiled. "But why do I have to help out so early?" I asked her. "It's 6 A.M. We don't open till 10, Aunt Ca—" I stared at the kitchen in shock with my mouth shut. If I told you there was a cake that was baked with a grenade inside of it, then I'm pretty sure you know what it looks like.
There was wet colored cake batter everywhere. It was like a rainbow walked in and sucker-punched everything. There was batter dripping from the ceiling. I'm not even going to question how it happened. "Uhhh..." I pointed at the kitchen.
Aunt Cass was in the kitchen with the boys, Hiro and Tadashi. Hiro was standing in between the two grownup as he held a bowl in his arms. Tadashi was holding onto the electric mixer that was in the bowl. More and more batter kept coming out of the bowl as Aunt Cass tried to protect herself with a plate. She opened her eyes and smiled happily. "(Name)! You finally made it! Come help the boys with the baking!" she told me as if it was a cry for help.
I laughed as I quickly ran over to the boys. I pulled the plug from the mixer and grabbed the bowl from Hiro. "Hey!" Hiro said pouting at me. I flicked his forehead as I stuck a tongue at him. "Clearly you two have been doing something wrong if you haven't noticed," I raised my hand, gesturing the messy area. Tadashi laughed as he rubbed at back of his neck. "Well, do you mind helping us before opening time?" he asked. I chuckled and nodded.
I began to make the batter, mixing it, then putting it in a pan before I popped the cake into the oven. I leaned against the closed oven and I looked at the two. "For two naturally born geniuses, you two can't make a simple cake," I raised a brow. Hiro scoffed and crossed his arms. "Hah! Baking is easy! If I can rebuild a self-cleaning robot then I can bake a cake!" he challenged. I smirked as I looked down at him. "Hah! In your dreams, squirt!" I shouted leaning in close to him. He stood up straight trying to act tough. "What's the batter? You're not up for the challenge?" he pushed.
(If you have long hair) I tied my hair into a ponytail before grabbing an apron, tying it around my waist. "It's on little man!" I pointed at Tadashi and Hiro. "You two are a team!" Then I pointed my thumb at Aunt Cass. "Aunt Cass and I are a team!" Hiro and I grasped each other's hands tightly before shaking it. "It's on!" we shouted.
~4 Hours Later~
The four of us panted tiredly. I looked at the clock in the corner of my eyes. "It's already 10..." I said quietly. "Who won?" Tadashi asked, wiping his brows. Aunt Cass and I had baked 20 cakes that were perfect and decorated. Hiro and Tadashi's were just a mess. They were some we're burnt and others were under-baked. Hiro looked at the side. I poked his cheeks. "Yeah, who won, Hiro?" I teased. Hiro continued to pout. Tadashi and Aunt Cass began to laugh. I chuckled as I rest my hands in my hips. "Losers clean the kitchen!" I shouted. Hiro turned his head to me quickly. "What?!" he screamed. "No way! There's just too much!" I laughed as I carried some of the cake. "I was just kidding! I'll come help you two later after I bring it to the café," I told them. They nodded as they began to clean.
Aunt Cass and brought the cake to the café. I flipped the sign to open and looked at my surroundings in awe. I couldn't believe that I spent my whole life here and it's still going strong. Aunt Cass was cleaning the counter with a wet rag. "(Name)," she called me quietly. I walked over to her, leaning against the counter. "Yes, ma'am?" I said happily. She looked up at me seriously. "Are you really going to..." she trailed off. I frowned as I looked on the ground. "Yeah, plans were already made," I said quietly. I quickly looked up at her with a smile. "But I won't be leaving until 2 more months! We still have time to make more memories!"
"I know but Los Kyoto is so far away!"
"I know Aunt Cass, but this is what we've been thinking about for a long time!"
"I don't trust him. There's just...something wrong with him!"
I slammed my hands on the counter. "There's nothing wrong with him!" I shouted. Aunt Cass looked at me in shock as I was, too, shocked with my sudden outburst. I looked down. "I love him...you have to understand that. This is my life after all." I said softly. "I know," she said. "But I'm only worried about you safety." I stayed quiet.
I walked through the the back, going up the stairs. I got to the kitchen and living area. Hiro and Tadashi looked over at me.
Tadashi walked over to me and touched my shoulder. "Are you okay?" he said softly. I smiled at him as I nodded. "Yup! Just a-okay!" I held up the end of my three fingers and my index finger and thumb created an 'o.'
I helped the two finish cleaning. It was awkward and quiet. We would try to start a conversation here and there but would always be cut off short.
After we finished, I went to the boys and apologized. "I'm sorry if you heard Aunt Cass and I arguing..." I said fidgeting with my fingers. Tadashi hugged me. "It's okay, little sis. It happens," he smiled. I looked over at Hiro. He smiled showing the gap in the middle of his teeth. "Yeah! Tadashi and I argue all the time!" he told me. I chuckled as I ruffled his jet black hair. "I know, squirt."
I shrugged and rolled my eyes as I playfully said, "But it's not like all that batters or anything!" Hiro glared at me. "That's my joke!"
"Oh come on! I was just frosting around!" I continued even though they were getting worst. Hiro quickly turned to Tadashi, screaming his name. Tadashi just shrugged. "There's no stopping her, cupcake," he teased as well. We high-fived each other as the frustrated teen stomped up the stairs.
Hello~! I know this chapter is kinda boring but I'm here it'll get better!
