I attended Kayla's funeral. She was a great cousin and I loved her dearly.

When her best friend gave her speech, I watched with awe. She clearly had not prepared her speech, yet the words were spoken from her soul, mans not simply pointless, meaningless words that other people would give. She would be a writer when she would grow up. I'm sure of that.

She was beautiful. Her chocolatey brown hair fell in waves right past her shoulders and her eyes were a clear blue. Some people say that you can see a persons soul right through their eyes. Now I know what they meant.

Her soul was innocent, kind and caring. I could see why she was Kayla's best friend.

I think I fell in love with her the minute she started her speech...

During it, her choice of words made me tear up. Her speech was gentle and you could see that she loved Kayla. As a best friend, I mean.

After the funeral, I came up to her and introduced myself. Even if I was very nervous, I clearly did not show it. We talked about Kayla and then exchanged emails when it was time to leave.

Later on, I asked my mom the following:

-Mom? I kind of became friends with Kayla's best friend, Amy. Remember the one that gave that really good and emotional speech that made you cry?

-Yes Peter, I remember, she answered.

-Well, I was wondering if we could, um...invite them over for dinner or something?

-Sure, Peter. I will email Amy's mom, since we exchanged contact information at the funeral, and invite them.

Yes!!! Clearly, Amy and I weren't the only ones that the funeral brought together as friends. My mom and Mrs. Grey, Amy's mom, also became friends, as I can see.
