"We've been here the whole time. You've been asleep. Time to wake up"
Tyler sat up from his bed. The beige sheets crumpled where he lay. His brown eyes looking around the room. He slipped away to the window to look out to the giant clock. It read 7:30, he knew the bishops were going to start waking everyone up to go to the morning meeting. The sun pierced over the horizon as Tyler squinted at the brightness of the sun. The sunlight mixed with the horizon was beautiful. A small smile fell onto Tyler's face. He quickly turned around to head back to his bed.
He ruffled his hair quickly to try to fix it. He began to hear the siren that motioned everyone to go to the meeting halls. Tyler looked into the broken mirror. The broken mirror he had been using was on its last legs, but for Tyler, it worked perfectly. He kept a mono toned facial expression as he was getting ready. He was humming to a song he had wrote late one night. Down in the forest, we'll sing a chorus one that everybody knows. Hands held higher, we'll be on fire. He finished buttoning up his white button up shirt and headed for the door. He turned around and picked up his red beanie and put in on. Before opening up the door, he grabbed his white coat and headed out. He looked down at his hands. His hands ached from holding them in fists. Something Tyler had picked up from another one of his friends. Something to keep him collected, calm and chill.
Tyler quickened his pace down the sleeping quarters to the main hallway. People were crowding around the exit as the eagerly wanted to get the day started. He looked to see a little girl, Maybe 8 or 10, crying to her mother. "I don't wanna go!! It's stupid and I wanna go back to bed!!" The girl with brown hair cried out. The mother grabbed her hand and began to pull her close. "Look, Clancy, Stop being a brat and lets get going. The bishops will be angry if we all aren't there in time. I use to not want to go when i was your age.." Tyler began to block her out as someone knocked him in the shoulder. His brown eyes made contact with the taller man. "Hey ty!" He smiled as he wrapped his arm around Tyler's shoulder.
"Oh. Hey Josh" Tyler's voice was hoarse as he was trying to keep it lowered. He let off a small smirk as he began to walk quicker. Josh chuckled a bit but followed. "Dude, i hate these assembles. They makes my anxiety worse man. Ya know?" Josh let his chest fall as he scratched the back of his neck. Tyler held his arm around Josh's arm. "But it's okay. I got you man." Tyler let off a small awkward smile. Josh returned the smile as they made it to their seats. Josh's was number 1988,18 while Tyler's was 1988,1. He sat down as he awaited for his other friend, Jenna, to arrive. He fiddled his thumbs as the lights dimmed. He looked around in shock for he knew Jenna was going to be punished for being late. He nervously looked around at the glowing eyes. Jenna was nowhere to be seen.
"Nico, Your up." A voice rang out from a male in a red cloak. The people of Dema knew if they were wearing a red cloak, they were higher up. One of the highest ranks there can be. The leaders of the city Dema. Josh gulped as he sat up to hear what today's news would be. "Thank you Lisden." A rough voice echoed. The voice sounded as if the person had eaten rocks. As if the person had been choking on smoke. If someone had smoked them out of the basement. "Today we have some terrible news. Someone is planning something bigger than all of you. I and the other bishops are taking great measure to make sure this doesn't happen.." Tyler began to zone out as he began to realize. "Jenna.." He whispered as he sat up straight. Josh looked Tyler in the eyes. "Shh dude, you're gonna get us in trouble." Josh's anxiety was already bad enough. Tyler was beginning to add onto it. "Jenna was saying how she wanted to get out of here!" Tyler was now at a normal talking level. Josh tried to quiet him but he wasn't having it.
"What seems to be the problem? 1988,1? " Nico's voice brought even more attention to him. Nico's eyes were gleaming with hatred for the interruption. Before anyone else could say anything, Tyler was already down the crosswalk. His quick walking turned into a full on sprint. His eyes were set on the nine bishops. His heart was pounding in his chest as anger began to fester and infect him. "You took her!!" He screamed upon the stage as he jumped onto the stage. He could hear Josh yelling for him to stop it, to quit it and come back to him. Tyler quickly grabbed Nico by the collar of his cloak. Nico stood taller then Tyler but it wasn't going to stop him. He quickly began to throw a left hook before he was quickly grabbed by the throat.
Tyler continued to swing even though the bishop had grabbed him by the neck and lifted him up into the air. Nico had tighten his grip as Tyler continued to try to fight. "Tyler!!" Josh continued to scream as he was jumping over the railing to get his friend off the stage. Nico proceeded to drop him, to let the other Bishops get to him. He was quickly pinned to the floor but continued to try to get out of their grips. The boy with the red curly hair stopped in his tracks. He almost fell back down the stairs as Tyler struggled to get out of their grips.
Josh stood their in fear for a moment before running back down the stairs. Tyler watched as Josh ran off. Coward.. Tyler thought to himself as he got one hand loose. He gripped onto one of the bishops arms before squeezing as tightly as he could. The bishop let go and Tyler was almost free but the another bishop kicked him in his side. Tyler tried to continue to fight before being kicked again. Much harder than the last. Tyler couldn't ignore that pain and held his side. Once again, they regained grip onto him. The other Residents of Dema sat in suspense of what was going to happen next. Nico looked at the crowd as Tyler was being pulled off the stage. "It's okay my dear people. He must be sick. His brain must be twisted. He is being sent to the infirmary to be checked out. I'm sure he'll be fine."
The assembly continued on. Tyler felt his shirt tightly choking him as two bishops had a hold of his arms. He was slowly being dragged to who knows where. There were only two Bishops with him. He let his chest fall slowly as he realized he probably couldn't fight these two off. Tyler looked down to the concrete floor. His brown eyes fell low as he was thinking of where they would have taken Jenna. It was wrong to show you loved someone of the opposite sex. He didn't seem to care though. He quietly whispered, "I'd get beat up to smithereens for you..". Enough to where only he could hear. He let out a another sigh before closing his eyes.
They had brought him to a place that reminded him of a prisoner's cell. He held his breath as they placed him onto the floor of the tiny room. Nothing was said between the bishops. Tyler looked around as he realized they had taken him to the delinquent's headquarters. A old run down warehouse that was next to the city. The basement he pre assumed as there was no outside light. He knew he'd be here for a long time. Maybe even tortured. He began to panic as he felt the pressures of a new place roll his way. He looked to the snow covering the ground. He twitched a bit, shaking his head to hold back tears.
He sat on the ground, where he had been sitting for the past couple days. Fiddling with rocks to keep him busy. Trying to fight back his deep thoughts, he kept singing that song. "I scream, you scream, we all scream cause we're terrified of what's around the corner. " He sang softly to himself. His voice echoed throughout the empty halls. Tyler could hear footsteps coming down one of the halls. The echoing chilled his bones as he wanted so badly to look up. So badly wanted to grab onto the bars and cry to let him go. Tyler just sat there, staring intensely at the rocks. "Can anyone hear me!?!?" His screams echoed back to him. Rippling through the empty rooms and halls like water rippling when you through a pebble into it. He began shaking his head to avoid tears.
"Tyler?" A familiar voice whispered.
