"Sigyn, Sigyn you okay in there?"
The blonde wiped her face off and nodded, though she knew Bucky couldn't see her through the door of the bathroom in Avengers tower. While it was true that they had a building in upstate New York and this one had been 'sold', a lot of the Avengers wanted to stay close to the city, so many of them opted to move back in.
"Yeah, fine. I must have had something bad last night... did Danny say what he made?"
Bucky sighed, rubbing the back of his neck trying to remember what the team that had been fondly dubbed 'The Defenders' had made last night. Daniel Rand, also known as the Iron Fist, had prepared an Asian dish with the help of his girlfriend, Coleen. He was currently off with T'challa trying to talk sense into one of their members, Luke Cage, who had recently taken over the neighborhood of Harlem.
"Did you have one of Jessica's deserts?" Bucky replied, not really answering Sigyn.
The bathroom door opened and he gave one of his famous half smiles. "No, I didn't. Do you know if Tony has anything that could help?" The blonde half shoved him out of the way as she spoke.
"For hangovers? Sure. I could always ask Jessica, or Matt to pick something up - "
"Aren't they handling something with that one angry guy with the skull and his 'not-girlfriend'?" Sigyn interrupted. "Besides, I'm sure it will pass. Where are the boys?"
Bucky shook his head a little and brushed off the other comments. "I sent Narvi and Vali with Strange for the day - he said he could continue to instill their lessons from... sorry I should have asked."
His name still burned her ears; she had yet to utter his name since they had first arrived on Midgard. The thought of living on without him was practically unbearable for her and it felt like she was in another dimension. It had only been two months since she had left Midgard. Three long months as a single mother.
It wasn't as hard, taking care of the twins, as she thought it would be. Bucky and the other Avengers helped out with chores and with paying for things the boys needed. No, it was the little things that were hard. The way she would smell leather shiner when one of the Avengers was cleaning their boots and it would remind her of Loki, or when she would see images of him around New York in remembrance of those he had killed so many years ago. The little things hurt.
"It's okay, T'challa gave me some things before he went to deal with the guy from Harlem. I think I'll be okay..." Her voice drifted and her stomach growled at the same time.
"Pancakes."
"Pancakes?" Bucky repeated, staring at his friend with a bemused grin.
"I'm craving pancakes for breakfast I think."
The soldier laughed as he tugged on his long sleeved hoodie, hiding his metal arm. "I'll start making pancakes while you clean up."
