A/N: This story takes place before Chapter 1 of Distorted Beauty. It's how Jacob Walker and Iselda Faye (or Sigyn as we also know her) met and eventually started dating. Some of you loved seeing them interact or wanted to know some background, plus we get to see it wasn't all rosy in the beginning for Iselda/Sigyn and that she's actually at war with herself during most of their relationship.
Song inspiring this story:
" Wise men say only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you?"- Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley

"Come on Izzy, you need to hurry up!"
Iselda Faye, or Izzy by her friends, was a fairly normal girl - well as normal as one could be getting ready to attend the famed Tony Stark's New Year's Eve Party.
"I'm coming Steve!" Izzy called.
Though Iselda had moved out nearly three months ago, it was still felt as if she had never left Stark Tower. She had come to New York just four months ago with no recollection of who she was. It had been tedious work trying to forge a new life in New York, but she seemed to be doing okay. Captain Steve Rogers was one of the few she remained close with after her fallout with the rest of the Avengers. They all insisted she was "Sigyn", the Goddess of Fidelity and a Vanir of Asgard - it was this argument that caused the members to take sides with only Steve and Tony of the core group siding with her to make her own mind up and be called by the name she wanted to be called by. In fact, it had been Steve that had come up with her name.
Walking out into the living room, she smiled as she saw the blonde soldier out of time smile. His blue eyes shimmered with pride as he whistled slightly. "Wow Izzy, you're gonna blow them away tonight."
"Hmmm perhaps. Did you invite Sharon?" Iselda teased as she gathered her clutch and headed towards the door of her apartment.
The soldier blushed, thinking of Sharon Carter - the great-niece of Peggy Carter, his first love. She had been his neighbor until it had been revealed that she had been spying on him the entire time. He opened the door and motioned for Iselda to go through the door first.
"I did, but I'm not sure if she'll show. Is 'mop bucket' coming?"
It was Iselda's turn to blush. Her cheeks heated up as she walked down the stairs, careful to hold the railing as she was not accustomed to wearing the black heels she wore for tonight - but according to Steve, Natasha had insisted she wear it with her knee length black dress.
"I'm... I'm not sure. Besides, won't he be intimidated by you hovering over me the entire night?"
"Oh no, don't throw this back on me." Steve quipped, catching up to her as he walked over to the limo Tony had sent for them both. "I like him, and he seemed to like you a bit. Not every day a woman such as yourself threatens someone with a mop bucket."
Of course, Steve was referring to a moment that had happened in Stark Tower a little over two months ago. A work "crush" was probably the best description for it. Shortly after moving out of Stark Tower, Tony had insisted that he provide her a job, even if it was just doing daycare in the Tower for some of the S.H.I.E.L.D workers. It had been a day they had used paint in the room and unfortunately, it had gotten everywhere. She had been cleaning up when one of the S.H.I.E.L.D agents she had never seen came into the high-level clearance room of the daycare.
