The name echoed through the teen's skull as his eyes widened at his best friend.
"I'm sorry Aiden, I've known for a few days, but I had to make sure it was true," Kassity said in almost a whisper.
A few seconds ticked by before the teen was fully functioning again.
"Do you know why?" Aiden asked, his voice fragile as he looked up at Kassity through his lashes.
"Not really, I only know he's here because Matthew, from our gym class, posted a picture of him and Peyton at the airport saying 'welcome home to my favorite cousin' or something like that and when I asked him why Peyton was here he just brushed it off and ignored me. But I'm guessing he's here to visit but I don't know," she explained, letting out a long sigh.
Aiden hummed in understanding.
He hadn't seen or heard from Peyton in little a year.
The two had been in a kind of open relationship if one would call it that.
Aiden had remained loyal and jumped to Peyton's beck and call for the three months they spent together.
While Peyton did whatever he wanted, he didn't use labels and every time Aiden tried to make some sort of move, Peyton broke him down.
He'd known how Aiden was with any kind of relationships and constantly twisted that in his favor every chance he got.
Each time Aiden caught him with someone else, Peyton would say how it was nothing and he only wanted Aiden again and again and again.
When they two broke things off, it was because Peyton was moving across the country for college.
Aiden had been heartbroken for a few weeks, but Kassity had made him feel better and he moved on with his life.
Thinking Peyton would forever be gone and out of the teen's mind.
But the ginger has made himself present in town again, and it didn't sit too well in the teens gut.
"As long as I don't see him, I don't think anything will be a problem, I have Blake. I just need Blake and everything will be fine," Aiden said, sitting straight.
A small smile was forced across his lips, "Everything will be fine," he said again, more to convince himself then the blonde girl across from him.
The two talked for the next half hour, eating lunch while they were there.
Aiden ended up going home to get some homework for the next week done, and Kassity went who knows where.
The next day when school started, the two best friends sat on a table in the courtyard in front of the school.
Aiden was fidgeting with the sleeves of a dark blue hoodie he'd taken from Blake, despite the major size difference.
An anxious feeling tugged at the boy's body, causing his eyes to sweep over the people around every minute or so, he knew would not Peyton at the high school, the guy was in college and had graduated early in the middle of the year and just left.
"Hey, Matthew!" Kassity yelled, catching Aiden and the passing raven head off guard.
"Oh, hey Kassity, Aiden" he greeted, joining the two where they were sitting.
Matthew was well known, and generally a nice guy.
His black hair and soft brown eyes made him seem rather puppy-like.
"Hey, I heard Peyton was in town," Aiden spoke up.
Matthew raised a brow at the smaller boy, "Why would you care and how do you even know him?"
Aiden hesitated, glancing at Kassity out of the corner of his eye, the blonde was no longer even facing the two males, her attention was on Emilia who was sitting on the other side of the area.
The smaller male let out a long sigh, "Him and I were kinda close, you could say before he left for college. I just wanted to know why he was back."
Matthew gave Aiden a wired look before shrugging, "He's back for a few weeks to visit family."
Aiden nodded, "Okay, thanks."
Matthew smiled and the bell rang for school to start, everyone heading to the first class of the day.
The day went on in a blur to the boy who wanted nothing than to get in his car and drive to the company that employed his mother, which is exactly what he did when the dismissal bell rang.
He strutted right through the front doors walking by April who gave a smile and welcoming wave.
Aiden used the constant excuse that he helped out around the company after his mother showed it to him months before, that he wanted to work there in the future, and so the woman welcomed Aiden with a sweet smile and no questions.
The small teen took the elevator up and followed the familiar hallways, stopping at the office door.
Aiden knocked twice, waiting for Blake to tell him to come in, but there was nothing but silence.
A few employees walked among the halls, the weird states had passed after a few visits so no one questioned the teen's presence.
Aiden knocked again, receiving the same silence.
Letting out a huff, the teen looked around, catching sight of a woman he'd seen a few times and remembered her to be, Amber, one of the many managers that helped manage the entertainers and clients under the company.
"Hey Amber," Aiden called, catching the blondes attention.
She didn't smile but gave a nod in acknowledgment.
"Where's Mr.Lisk?" the teen asks, trying not to let it come out as a whine or pout.
"The boss is in a meeting, he should be out any minute. I don't think he would care if you waited in his office," she said, gesturing to the door behind the teen.
"Okay, thank you," he said giving a small smile before entering the office.
Like every time he'd entered the room, it was cooler than the rest of the building and the dark curtains blocked out all sources of natural sunlight.
Immediately, Aiden shuffled to the curtains, pulling them apart and letting the light warm the room.
The boy leaned on the desk, looking over the scattered out papers and documents.
Knowing better than snooping through anything.
Before Aiden could get too bored, the office door opens and a wide smile spreads on the boy's face.
Blake closes and locks the door behind himself, "What are you doing here?" he asks, returning the smile.
"I missed you," Aiden said, hugging the man.
The two shared a sweet kiss before Blake sat in his seat and Aiden sat on the edge of the desk next to him.
The man continued on with some work, keeping up small talk with each other.
"So Kassity told me something yesterday, about someone I used to know is back in town for a few weeks," Aiden explained as Blake typed away on his computer, looking up to give the teen a questioning look.
"Is that good? Are the like a friend or something?" Blake asks, turning back to the screen.
"Or something" Aiden chuckled.
