Reading the message again and again Aiden typed out a single letter, letting it sit as a draft for a solid minute before pressing the send button before he could get a chance to back out.
What they had to talk about, he didn't know.
To the teen, there was nothing left to say, not even an 'I'm sorry' would do anything anymore for either of them.
A ding echoed in the room as a reply was delivered from Blake 'thank you, can i pick you up now?'
Nawing on his bottom lip, Aiden hopped up and pushed his door open a few inches listening for any evidence of his mother being awake.
Being met by nothing, the boy crawled back to his phone he sent the same reply as before, his heart racing faster than he wished it was at the moment.
The last reply came as a simple 'on my way' when Aiden put the phone in his bed and quickly and unnecessarily quietly changed into some jeans and a hoodie, putting on his high tops before sneaking toward the staircase.
Taking each step with thick hesitation until he reached the bottom, letting out a stressed breath he'd been holding.
He was so close to the front door, he could almost touch the dark stained wood when a sudden creaking came from the direction of his mother's room, making every nerve stand on point in the teen's body as he froze.
His eyes widening not daring to turn around.
The sound of footsteps echoed like an incoming storm but the sound of the bathroom light being turned on and the door closing set the boy into action again, hurridly unlocking the front door and slipping into the night.
Letting out another stressed sigh, Aiden looks to the curb where there was yet to be anything parked.
Taintivly taking a seat on the front steps, Aiden bounced his leg with anxiety, resisting the urge to turn and return to the safety of his room.
Much to the boy's dismay, a sleek black car pulled up to the curb almost blending in with the eerily dark street.
Hesitating a few moments Aiden approached the car with small steps and narrowed eyes, something new blooming in his chest while he opened the passenger door and climbed in, not bothering to buckle.
Blake stared at the younger for a few long seconds before pulling into the street again and heading to a nearby park.
Not a word was said as they pulled into one of the many empty parking spots, not a single person hanging around such a place given the time and weekday.
Blake killed the engine and slumped back, rethinking what he was doing.
"Say something," he mumbled softly, his voice striking the teen.
"What even is there to say? I figured you'd moved past infatuating yourself with some kid to focus on your future wife," he growled bitterly, still refusing to even glance at the man feeling more irritated than sad with him.
"I know I shouldn't have told you like that, but I didn't have it in me to lie to you Aiden, please understand that I care," Blake near pleaded, reaching for the boy's hand, just to have it snatched away.
"If you cared you'd leave me alone," Aiden forced out feeling himself slip at his name being spoken before remembering the warning he'd received from Julian, "Imagin what would happen if we got caught at any time. People at the company have seen me hanging around while my mom was gone, someone is bound to be suspicious. Your life would be over Blake."
The cab fell dead, there were no lies spoken.
It was just the painful truth that Aiden was still a minor and Blake was a CEO with a family and business to worry about and there had been suspicions that arose from the teen's presence at the workplace of his mother.
Blake suddenly spun toward Aiden, cupping his cheeks and forcing the almost black orbs to meet his own light brown ones, "Then wait."
Not bothering to move from his grasp, Aiden was overwhelmed with confusion raising a questioning brow, "The hell does that mean?"
"When you turn 18 let's try again," Blake quickly sputtered out, like it was the best idea in the world, but Aiden only glared at the man.
"That's a joke right? I'll be 17 in a few months and 18 after another year. Not to mention, you'll be married long before then, you'll move on long before then and I may as well too," the teen deadpanned, though the idea was one that was already spreading like wildfire through his head.
More brittle silence filtered through the small gap between the two while that locked eyes in the dim lighting.
"I called it off," Blake whispered, the four words carrying the weight of a thousand.
Aiden's eyes widened, but he didn't get a chance to say anything before soft lips came crashing onto his own.
Meeting the hungry kiss with all the bottled emotions he'd been harboring deep down, stray tears slipping down his cheeks as he climbed onto the man's lap, breathless and desperate.
Breaking apart they gasped for the oxygen their lungs demanded.
"I love you," Aiden choked, leaning into the hand that held his cheek while the other gripped his hip.
"I love you too baby."
