The bullet had clipped Gerard's right leg. Just enough to tear a chuck out of his calf. I used my shirt to put pressure onto it for a good half hour. I was thankful when the bleeding let up. We were pulled off to the side of a back road, my head hanging out the window as I puked, still violently sick to my stomach at the fact that I killed someone. Gerard didn't talk much, he just held onto my makeshift tourniquet.
October 17th, 7:16 pm
We drove for about eight hours. Gerard let me sleep most of the ride which I was thankful for. I felt him run his fingers through my hair softly.
"Joli, sugar, we're here."
"Where?" I asked, sitting up and looking around with a yawn. We were parked in the driveway of a modest house set against a mess of pine trees.
"Uh, my friend that told me about the guy I'm after? They're letting us stay at their place as opposed to another nasty motel. But, the thing is, I may not have been so forthcoming about my relationship with them..."
"What do you mean?" I asked suddenly feeling suspicious.
"It's...sort of...my ex."
His fucking ex. We were going to be sharing a house overnight with a woman that he dated? That he had sex with? Why would he bring us here of all places?
"Come on, you'll love 'em. You two are just alike."
Yeah, that makes it better. He jumped out of the car and opened my door, grabbing my hand and pulling me out and yanking me reluctantly to the front porch. The door swung open, revealing a young man not much older than myself. At least she's got a boyfriend, I thought to myself. I wouldn't have to worry about her trying to flirt if her boyfriend was right there.
"Gee Bear!" The young man yelled. He jumped into Gerard's arms and kissed him hard on his cheek.
Jesus Tapdancing Christ.
"Hey, Frankie." Gerard said, blushing hard. "Sugar, this is Frank Iero, my ex-boyfriend."
"Oh." Was all I could muster up.
Frank was just as gorgeous as his former lover. Dark messy hair with big green eyes. His lip and nose were pierced and, from what I could see, he was covered in tattoos. Frank wrapped me in a hug and kissed my cheek sweetly.
"You must be the beautiful Joliet." He smiled at Gerard. "She's just as gorgeous as you said, Gee."
Frank invited us in, showing us to his guest room and giving us a few minutes to unpack. Gerard flopped onto the bed and looked at me.
"Go ahead and ask." He sighed.
"Thank you. Oh my God. You're bi? I had no idea."
"Yeah, I mean, Frankie is the only guy I've dated. We met my senior year at art school. We only dated for, like, a year. We mutually decided we were better off as friends rather than lovers." Gerard said.
"He seems really sweet." I said, sitting on Gerard's lap.
"He is. I mean, he's nice enough to let us stay here. We still text a lot, mostly about you." He chuckled. "He's one of my best friends."
We finished unpacking our stuff and headed downstairs where Frank was waiting with coffee.
"Still take it black, huh Gee bear?" He asked.
"You know it. And Joli takes it with hot chocolate mix." He said, lacing his fingers with mine.
"Mocha! Fuck yeah. I feel that." He said with his fist in the air.
