(y/n)'s POV
I fastened my tie and threw my hair up into a high ponytail. I ended up doing my makeup, which is rare for school, but it was the last day of year 11 and I wanted to be remembered as a nice, well presented person and not just a freak who never tried. I then opened my window and let the cool July breeze float around my room before heading downstairs to have breakfast.
"Well you're rather chipper aren't you" my mum remarked as I slid into the chair opposite her. "Yup! How could I not be? It's the last day I'll be roaming around hell in this stupid uniform." I replied. She stared at me with serious eyes for a moment before saying "I suppose so" and laughed while shaking her head.
I searched around for a clock but remembered there was no clock in the kitchen. "What's the time mum?" I said and she looked at me before checking her watch "8:15" my eyes widened and I stumbled out of the kitchen grabbing my bag and slipping my shoes on. I was never on time yet never this late, I had to be in school by 8:30 and I usually left the house at 8:00. "Byee!" I shouted after my mum gave a muffled 'goodbye' from the other room.
I closed the door and ran down the street trying to swing my bag over my shoulder. As I approached the end of the street I saw Dan in his usual position; on his phone with one hand in his pocket. He looked up and laughed at my panicked face. "What?!" I pushed his shoulder as he continued to chuckle. "It's just your face, did you see a ghost or something?" He remarked. "No and maybe it's because we're gonna be late?" I half-shouted, causing him to grin more. "Alright (y/n), calm your tits" He then said causing my attempt to stifle a laugh and failing.
We ran half of the way to school and arrived in tutor panting and sweating, we took our seats at the back of the room, him behind me. "Odds on you throw a pen at sir and try to hide it was you." He whispered as Mr.Johnston walked into the room and was also seated at his desk. "Alright" I smirked "3, 2, 1" he counted down "8" we both said, I pretended to be disappointed but I'd waited for this moment for 5 miserable years. I pulled out my pen and hoyed it across the busy classroom right at sir. My stomach fell as it actually hit him in the head, of course Dan just sat and laughed as I whipped my head round pretending I hadn't done anything.
"Right." He begun as he stood up, "who was that?" He added sternly beginning to raise his voice, I tried not to look obvious but his eyes shot in my direction as I tried not to grin. "(y/n)" He said angrily, he knew I hated him and I knew he hated me, probably because I chewed in his class and tended to back chat wen he tried to tell me off. "Hm?" I asked casually as he shot daggers from his eyes. "This seems to be YOUR pen?" Oh shit.
I turned to Dan and squeezed my eyes shut as his voice bellowed through the classroom with every ones eyes directed at me. I turned back around "Oh I was wondering where that went..." I replied without effort. "If it wasn't the last day of year 11, you'd consider yourself picking the chewing gum from under the desks (y/n)." He shouted annoyed at me.
Dan's POV
The rest of the day was just photos and saying goodbye to everyone, this morning was hilarious as we walked out of tutor. We were now walking out of school for the last time, and honestly I was just relieved in every way shape and form. The thing that made me kinda sad is the fact I wouldn't see (y/n) everyday, but we promised to meet up on weekends and text and call often.
We wouldn't drift apart would we?
I had recently been trying to figure out my emotions towards her. She had just seemed so pretty this year and her eyes glowed with positivity wherever she was at any time- "Dan?" I snapped back into reality to see we were stood outside of her house. "Oh yeah urm sorry" I stuttered like and idiot, before I could say anything, I was embraced in a warm hug. I wanted to stay like this forever but she pulled away teary eyed and sad. It shattered my heart to see her eyes so dull and tears streaming down her face. "Holy shit, I'm gonna miss you so fucking much." She said wiping tears from her cheeks. "We'll still meet on weekends though, and we can text tonight" I reassured her, but the pressure built up behind my eyes and before I knew it tears spilled over my eyes. "Why am I not surprised you two are crying right now?" A voice came from behind us, I looked up to see (y/n)'s mum smiling in her doorway.
"Bye Daniel." (y/n) said one last time hugging me once more.
"Bye (y/n)." I said smiling as she walked down her path, her ponytail swinging behind her.
