Dan's POV

Why was he here? In London. More importantly, why did he think it was okay to talk to us. My grip was lost from (y/n)'s hand as he moved towards her and split us apart.
"Jonathan?" Her voice cracked. (sorry, Jonathan was a bit of a random name, but oh well) Jonathan Hayes, the schools footballer, every girl loved him. Long story short. Him and (y/n) were a thing and ended up breaking up after he left. She really liked him. But she didn't know we hated each other and he knew I liked her. I felt my blood boil as I thought of what she didn't know about him. "It's so great to see you." She said monotonously. But he seemed to be oblivious to her discomfort and sarcasm as he then pulled her in for a hug, to which she obliged. My ears became tuned to selective hearing. I only picked out things like "we need to catch up." Or "here is my number" and her giggles and his looks.

After about five minutes of chatting they finally made their way back to what they were doing before. She once again gingerly took my hand. We walked slowly back to our apartments in silence, we were there, she looked at me and smiled "he was nice wasn't he?" I just stood annoyed he was the only person she could bring up. "Da-" I cut her off when the anger reached a peak point. "Yes, he was really lovely." I said in an accidental sarcastic and angry voice. She just looked at me sadly. "What?" she said acting clueless. "He was and is a dick. You're blinded by his charmingness." I said knowingly. She looked taken aback, but her expression softened. "Or it's just you being self centred and you're the dick." She said in a tone that made my chest hurt. She basically ripped her hand from mine. "after we've been out all night and had a good time I run into a friend, and the best you can do is complain?" I stopped her, she was still oblivious to who he actually was and what he was doing. "(y/n), please listen, he's trying to get back at me he doesn't want you." I said, sounding like a prick. "And I don't want you." Once again her voice and words broke me to pieces inside. "goodbye Daniel." those words, the words that she said last time. I couldn't loose her, not again.
She closed the door behind her and I could feel the hurt radiate off of her apartment.

I slowly turned around, still in shock. I always had to mess things up. I could never hold a relationship and will never be in love. I walked into my apartment. To be met face to face with Phil. "I heard everything." He said and pulled me into an instant hug. This was normal for Phil. He let go and walked back upstairs to the lounge. "Thanks Phil." I said before going to my bedroom and flopping onto my cool bed.

Suddenly my head began to replay memories like a CD player.

Friday 14th March 2004

We were sat outside in the spring sun and (y/n) eagerly waited for Jonathan about ten minutes later he still wasn't there. "should we just go up to music?" I asked sweeping my hair out of my eyes. "You can Dan, I'll just wait here, he will come I know he will." I walked to music with my earphones in, muse blasting, but somehow this made me relaxed. Like I had escaped the real world and didn't have to listen to the usual shit people gave me when I was minding my own business. Suddenly, the music stopped and my ears ached from not only the volume but the fact that the earphones had been ripped from my ears. "No phones in school young man." Panic rushed over me and I turned in shock expecting to see a teacher, but instead Jonathan Hayes. The popular one who people thought was innocent and kind. Well I can confirm that wrong. "Did you see his face, scared as shit." He and his mates laughed. "Er- I think (y/n) is waiting for you Jo-" He rolled his eyes. "Yeah that bitch. Stupid like you. But she's pretty and I'm lonely. So I have landed with her, I wanted Harriet but got that flimsy rat instead." He sighed exasperated. I couldn't believe him, what a "fucking dick" I thought.
"what did you just say to me Howell?" I looked up and realised I had just said my thoughts aloud. "Nothing." I said like a coward. "If you say anything to that little shit you call (y/n) I know where you live and I have the power to do what I want to you, her or your family, Howell." And with that he pushed me back and made his way over to (y/n) who was sat around the corner.
