Chapter 5: Mr. Who?

"I'm here to remind you about the meeting at 9:00 Am with Mr. Ethan Wright, Mada'am"
"How many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me that? It's weird...I'm too young to be called that way -chuckle- anyway, thank you. Is everything prepared?"
"Yes ms." He respond and I dimissed him.

What a way to start a day, seems like everything points out to work. You maybe wondering who's Ethan is, well... he's a friend of mine for a year now. We've been friends after my marriage conflicts, he didn't know about Brennan and I's separation. Let's just keep it as our secret, okay?

Our status is complicated, I don't know. We are not together as a couple but we love each other's company. He's always there for me in times of crisis and success, so he's worthy. Not to brag but, I know he's in love with me. For a very long time. I'm thankful for his affection towards me but I'm too busy with my career, I forgot about him sometimes.

His appearance you may ask? As clichè as it gets well... -blushed- He's tall, maybe 6'3 perhaps? For me, he's the definition of tall, dark and handsome. WELL, enough about him because I need to prepare now.

It's already 8:45 Am. I'm at my office desk waiting for him. After a minute he arrived.

We have discussion regarding the new project to be implemented. Which brings excitement to me because I really want to be a part of it. The discussion takes hours because of assumptions, problems etc. But it ends well.
"So that's all, thank you. You may go." Ethan ends the discussion and call me out.
"Yany, let's have lunch together?" He utter. Yes it's supposed to be a question but for what I've heard it sounds more like a command. He's really such a dominant man, but what ever. I can't say no when it comes to food.

We already ordered our food. As we are waiting Ethan starts a conversation with enthusiasm. Ethan is a reserved person when it comes to other people, but when it comes to me... Lord have mercy on my ears. He's too talkative towards me! I noticed it when we have a small gathering together with our colleagues. But I appreciate it though, It means he trusted me.

"We have another meeting for tomorrow at 2:00 pm with our 'associate'. Please don't be late." He huskly said.
"Oh why yes of course -chuckle- stop sounding so authoritative Mr! In fact I'm not late today!"
"It's just today, you're not late only today. I know you yany. You won't blame me." He said as he chuckle.
I hissed and ask "who's this 'associate', may I ask?"
"Tomorrow you'll see. I think both of you will get along with each other. Which I won't allow! In fact I'm more handsome and manly than him. Aaaaaand... I'm more perfect to be with you." He said as he wink.

This guy...

I rolled my eyes at him. "Is that so pretty boi? -chuckle- well I can't wait to meet him."

It goes for an hour... yes an hour. We slowly eat our foods as we are off with different topics. I share him my experiences with my vacation, his life updates an so on.

We head out once we finished our plate. And Ethan willingly drive me off home ( Is this grammatically correct? Please tell me.) As we arrived, I stepped out of the car and walked to my front door.

"See you tomorrow, yany."
"See you Ethan." I smiled at him as I close the door when...
"Yany wait!..."He stops the door from closing. Which made me shooketh.
"Why Ethan?" I asked.
He look deep in my eyes. I know he's hesitantly wanted to speak up. That's why I ask again.
"Is there anything that's bothering you?"
"No... it's just..."
"What is it then?" I give him a reassuring smile for him to continue.
"Epiphany, we've know each other for a very long time and I know that you're focus on your career but... please, would you give me chance and have a date with me?" he said.

What the...

Well it is indeed true that we've known eachother for a long time, I knew him enough that's why I trust him. But Am I ready to give him a chance and fall in love again? What if it turns out to be the same thing that happened years ago? It still hurts... am I ready and prepared to risk falling in love again? Or not? UGHHHH!

I look at him, while I'm having a conflict with my thoughts. I just got cut off from it when...

"It's okay epiphany don't strained yourself from thinking about this too much. I like you that's why I'm asking you this, and it will always be. Don't pressure yourself. I'll wait for your answer, I will wait for you." He said with utmost sincerity.

His eyes! It's making me melt! I'm not prepared for this!

As I'm busy with my thoughts, I notice that he bids farewell and starts to walk off.

"E-ethan wait!"
He quickly turns around and walk towards me with the hopeful eyes.

Goddanggit Ethan!

He keeps his hopeful eyes as he walk towards me, grab my hands and interlocked it with his.

"I-okay, I'll go on a date with you." I whisper.

After I said that, He give me wide smile that shows all of his pearly white teeth and cute dimples.

"Thank you epiphany!" He said as he hug me tight.
"Ah! I can't breath ethan!"
"Sorry! I-I'm just happy. How about tomorrow, After the meeting? Around 6 pm. Is it okay with you?" He asked.
"Okay, see you then Ethan."
He's still smiling at me. Daym that smile! Epiphany stop it!

"Goodbye epiphany. See you tomorrow. I'll be on my way now."
"Bye, take care! Be safe." I said as I slowly watched him walk off and fully closed the door.

Great! Great epiphany! Now what?! You're not mentally and emotionally prepared yet you still accept a date with him!
But it was just a date! There's no harm in a little harmless date! Stop scolding me, self!
If you'll get hurt, i'm out.

I scold myself for a minute. Actually I think I'm crazy. I'm actually having a fight against myself. I sigh and shrugged it off. There's nothing wrong in giving a chance, right? If it works, then I'll be grateful. I'm just hopeful that it turns out well. Let's not make a big deal out of it.

"A meeting and a date? I wonder what could happen?"

Epiphany as a mentally and emotionally unprepared confused woman, Ethan as a hopeful suitor wanting to captivate epiphany's heart with a little date, Brennan as a frustrated man hoping to gain her former wife's love and trust once again.
