The snow only came down harder."you idiot,"i mumbled.if i had stayed we could have worked and had food.maybe even a chance.i looked around.nothing but barren trees and snow for miles.i flicked my tail.what am i mad for.my sisters,my father.no.none of that was it.i was mad at myself.
Had i waited till summer.the same thing echoed in my head.but it didn't matter now.i am alone now.and now is what matters.
I perked my ears and strolled on.in the distance i could make out a fuzzy white figure.i took my chance and got closer.A female white fox watched an old cabin.her slim body nearly matched the snow.i let out a bark.or more of a high pitched yap.
She turned and focused on me.her ribs showed beneath her thick white coat.her blue eyes showed pain.she steadied herself.not to fight but to run.
"I mean no harm,"i said slowly with a calm tone.her stance grew relaxed and calm."im red,"i said normally.
"Im blizzard,"she spoke with a dry monotone voice. She showed no emotion.without sounding or looking hurt i could tell she was in pain.it was something in her eyes that screamed for her.a blaze of fire breaking her.
She looked away and when she did i noticed it.her paw was backwards.it wasn't broken that much was obvious.the paw was small meaning it had been that way since she was a pup.her leg looked normal for the most part.my only guess was that her paw and ankle had been numb from the snow.how did she walk otherwise?
"Are you hunting or looking for someone,"i asked peaking around the wood fence that stood before the cabin.
"Hunting was my plan but clearly Ive come to far,"she answered with some emotion that wasn't immediately clear.
"I could help you,"I offered.i am alone and so is she.what if we didn't have to be alone.i gave us both better chance of surviving.
"Sure,"she said with happiness.a tone i hadn't heard since fall.I had a smirk as i stepped closer and crouched down slipping under the fence near blizzard.she watched me as i got close to the cabin.the rustic wood walls brushed against my fur.the oak at bits and pieces that pulled at my fur.carefully i leaped under the porch.heavy footsteps sounded above me.
