I
t has been two weeks since I last saw Loki and opened the Prophecy for the first time.
Steve and Bruce sometimes came into my house but besides them, I haven't seen anyone else. They were the only company.
I needed to get out of my house and shower.
After a quick shower and some makeup on, I got out of my house and went to the grocery store. Then, I went to Stark tower with the Prophecy in my purse.
No way I was leaving that behind, unsecured.
When I got there, no one was in sight. I expected at least Stark to greet me with a snarky remark but he wasn't there. That's weird considering there's always at least one person I know in this tower at all times.
I slowly went to the elevator, unsure about where I was going.
Jarvis welcomed me, "Hello, Miss Carter. Which floor would you like to go?" He asked me.
"Hello, Jarvis. Is Stark here?" I asked back.
"Yes. Would you like me to show you to his floor?"
"Yes, please," I thanked him and waited.
My cell phone rang and I answered. It was Steve.
"Hi, Alison?" He greeted with quite a serious tone.
"Hi," I answered. "Why are you calling me?" I panicked a little because of his seriousness.
"I need you-"
The doors of the elevator opening cut him off. Everyone was here. They were all looking at me.
I tried to close the doors up as soon as they opened.
Being the closest to the elevator, Steve put his hand out to stop them from closing.
I ended the call and smiled nervously at everybody.
"Hi," I greeted with an awkward smile.
"Ali, where were you? The last time we saw you was the time Loki destroyed half of New York," Clint stood up and approached me. He seemed preoccupied and relieved.
I looked at Steve and Bruce. They were the only ones I saw since then. And, of course, I saw Nat at the funeral.
"I was getting my sh*t together," I replied and ignored Steve's severe look. "It's a really long story but I'm here now, so let's start."
I sat between Steve and Stark. Awkward.
Everyone was still looking at me. I looked at everybody back, making them look elsewhere.
Tony stood up and started presenting a new mission we had.
I rolled my eyes and looked at Steve. Not another mission, please, I begged mentally. I've had enough these past few days.
"Any news about Bucky?" I whispered to Steve. He shook his head lightly and looked back at Stark.
I looked around me, not paying attention to Stark's boring voice.
"Alison. Are you even paying attention to me?" Tony asked me. I looked up at him, pretending I was doing so. Gosh, it feels like I'm in a classroom and Tony's the teacher.
"Yes, I am," I lied, then glancing at Clint who chuckled. He noticed.
I looked back up and observed Stark. I hated the fact he was exactly like his father, not a single difference.
As I walked through the park, someone called me, "Alison!"
I turned around with a smile until I saw who it was. Howard.
