It's kinda weird, not gonna lie.

I was walking home from school, I don't normally use a bookbag, so I have my binder, my purse, my book "Everen: Enter the Dragonette." I love this book. The main character of the story is so funny, and so—well, she makes me feel smarter.

I was on the sidewalk, heading towards the woods that leads to my house. Cars were going by, and the wind was blowing steadily. The cold air felt good on my skin. The wind blew through the trees, and leaves that fell to the ground stirred and flew in the air.

I took the shortcut that led to the dirt road in the forest. I walked along until I reached the clearing where there are six separate paths. My dad never wants me to go to the other paths. Once I asked why, he taught me to never contradict him. I heard rustling in the bushes. I turned to look towards the sound.

"Hello? Anyone there?" I waited, but no one answered.

I shrugged and thought it was just a rabbit. Evil rabbits. I hate them.

Then suddenly, a guy about my age came out of the bushes and stood in front of me.

I took a step back in surprise.

He had blond hair that fell over golden-red eyes. He was slender and a foot taller than me. He was huffing as if he's been running a whole marathon. He had a bead of sweat coming down from his forehead. He held out his hand.

"Please help me—come with me."

My eyes were wide.

"W-why do you need help? Why m-me?" I asked.

He took a step towards me, his hand still extended.

"Please," he pleaded.

I swallowed, my dad is going to kill me after this. As his eyes started to dull, and his hope vanishing quickly, I took his hand and smiled at him, still a little nervous.

"Where to go?"

My dad is going to kill me, literally.

He started to run, "Come on!"

I thought he was speaking to me, but two more people came out and started run behind me.

"What's going on?" I yelled.

He turned towards me. "Tell me where to go! Quickly!" he yelled.

Why?

I looked around, my tree house? We were running through the forest, I waited until I could tell the path to my tree house, I yelled, "Right!"

The boy did a sharp right turn. We ran out of the forest We ran through a wide clearing, trees dotted the area. This place is like three miles away from my house. "Stop running, hold on!" I yelled.

The boy stopped abruptly, so did the two people that were running behind us. I motioned them to follow me, and walked along to find the tree to my tree house. All this time all I'm thinking of is that my dad is going to kill me. So, I decided to explain it to him by texting him. I looked up a few minutes later to see my tree house there. I pointed up and turned to the trio.

"You can hide up here. Let's go, you guys need to explain some things to me."

The girl of the two boys scowled and walked over to climb the ladder to my tree house while muttering, "This is so stupid," and she opened the trap door and climbed in.

The older looking boy besides the blond boy. He inclined his head to me, and whispered, "Thank you," and climbed up and into the tree house.

I turned towards the blond boy. I quirked an eyebrow at him, and waved my hand towards the tree house.

"Well?"

The boy stared at me for a long time, he blushed.

What the?

He ran at me, grabbed me by the arm, and bit me in the shoulder. I froze, then this overwhelming heat spread over me. I gasped and closed my eyes. For a while he drank something from me, but I'm not sure if it's blood, wouldn't I be lightheaded by now? I opened my eyes listening to him sucking. It sounds very...weird. Disgusting? The heat in my body grew and when he finally pulled back away from me, I gasped again, and clamped my hand over where he'd bitten me. My whole body involuntarily trembled. A feeling I never felt before ran through me. I looked at the boy, confused,

"Wha-?"

"Let's go up, we'll explain everything to you, okay?" The blond headed boy wasn't looking at me; He was avoiding my eyes desperately.

I blinked, and nodded slowly while my squinting my eyes in confusion.

"Okay..."

We climbed up the ladder and into the tree house. I looked at the trio while everyone was sitting down, including me.

"Well? Is anyone going to explain to me what's going on?"

The girl started glaring at the boy that had bitten me after she sniffed the air, "You've bitten her didn't you?" She shook her head angrily when he nodded and cast his eyes down. "I knew we shouldn't have asked for help, stupid boy I should..." She scolded at the boy what must've been for a long time.

In the mean time, the older guy started explaining things to me.

All there was in the tree house was talking, scolding, a little bit of brimming of tears—from the blond boy—and my questions.

When I heard a part in the older guy's explanation I yelled, "Milo is bonded to me? Are you serious?"

Milo's head ducked, and the girl gave me a hard stare.

The guy that introduced all of them nodded, "Yes."
