Summary: Jantara meets a kindred soul while working at the library.
-----------------------------------------------------
Jantara sorted out the books that people had placed in the cart. Just like she's been doing for five years. She loved the library. It's a nice, peaceful place that she can't find anywhere else.
"Hey, Jantara, do you mind taking over for me please? I just need a break for a few minutes."
Jantara frowned at Priscilla.
No, do your job like everyone else she wanted to say. Every time Priscilla asks Jantara that "she needs a break", she never comes back. Making Jantara take on all of Priscilla's responsibilities.
"Sure." She said instead.
"Thanks! You're the best." Priscilla walked out of the library.
Jantara doesn't want to deal with that woman every flippin day. The last time she spoke up to someone like her, she ended doing whatever that person asked anyway. She doesn't want the headache of having to deal with that unnecessary crap. That other person was her own older brother. Basically, she learned a thing or two that you should just let it go. Sure, Jantara told other people about the woman ditching, but they didn't do anything about it.
Priscilla is probably off to hang out with some guy. She always has someone different. It's always annoying, watching her with a different guy every week. The guys always seem to be smiling at her, as if she's the only girl in the world. That woman never appreciates that.
What Jantara would give...
She sighed, and placed the last few books on the shelf and rolled the cart back to it's original place. She then went over to the checkout desk and sat down.
She wondered whether or not her career choice would be different if she were more sociable, but she guessed she always were better off alone. The library here in this town is the perfect place for someone like her.
Priscilla picked the wrong job. Jantara doesn't even understand why she works here at all if she's just going to ditch every other day.
She took out a book that was left on the counter and opened the book up to the first page. She may not have an exciting life, but she does within the pages of these stories. Some book lovers say they wish they had the lives of the characters they love, but reading their story is exactly like going on the journey with them.
Here in this library, there are countless amounts of adventures to be a part of and all she wants to do is spend her whole life going on those adventures. She doesn't need some guy in her life.
Her hand clenched and unclenched, imagining feeling a hand in hers. She forced herself to stop.
"Excuse me," A shaking, kind voice took Jantara out of her reverie.
An old woman about in her seventies was standing at the checkout desk with the most kindest smile she had ever seen. Her gentle, pale hazel eyes gazed at Jantara.
Jantara returned the smile graciously. "Hello, Ma'am. What can I do for you today?"
"Yes, dear. Would you mind checking these books out? I finished all mine so quickly." She gave a soft chuckle. "I thought when I got older, it'll be more difficult to read, but I just need glasses and I'm good to go!"
Jantara gave a little laugh of her own. "Time flies when you're having fun ma'am."
"That's true, that's true." The old woman nodded.
