"By a clear majority, MEPs have rejected rubber-stamping proposals that would have forced internet companies to filter the web, and would have introduced an unprecedented tax on linking online," said Raegan MacDonald, head of EU public policy at Mozilla. "This is great news for Europe’s citizens, its SMEs and startups, especially those in the creative sectors as, while the proposed rules were supposed to protect and support them, they would have been the ones to suffer most under the new regime."

“The rejection, for now, of the mandate means the Parliament has another few months to get it right,” said Alyn Smith MEP, SNP member of the European Parliament for Scotland. “I look forward to supporting colleagues in that and will continue to be active in efforts to strike a balance that works for everyone."

I'm not sure what this means exactly, or if there's going to be more, I just quoted the website. The article I quoted was posted on November 19th which is as recent as I could find.

I don't think we're out of the woods yet, but I wanted to share the good news. I have also found this:

"At the start of June, 100 MEPs sent an open letter in opposition of the plans. This was preceded by a letter from Liberties and European Digital Rights (EDRi)."

However that was in June so I'm not sure if it holds much value today.

I have one final thing. Our campaign here isn't likely to be noticed,

so far we have done very well in getting more people to sign the petition against the bs law,

But we still need to do more if we want to be noticed and heard. If there is anyone who is of legal age (18 yrs or more) supporting our cause, reaching out to your MEPs is a good idea, and inquiring about article 13, presenting your case and why it's completely destructive to pass it as law.

I know that's asking a lot, and a lot of people dont want to get their hands dirty, but if you can help out, please do.

If someone does reach out to their MEPs and gets some useful information, you can PM me it so I can post it here, for all of us to know,

BUT only share it with specific permission from the MEP you talked to,
to avoid any legal trouble.

I can't find any names on the people standing behind this, or I would have sent an e-mail to them by now about this. If I discover anything more, I will keep you all posted, of course!
