Chapter 5
Elizabeth's POV
When the instructor dismisses me, I walk towards the Mess Hall, where I'm sure I'll find most of the trainees. I walk up the steps and open the door. I step inside, get my food and feel everyone's gazes directed at me. Tired of all of the attention, I send them a glare and they all go back to what they we're doing. My glare disappears and I sigh, walking to an empty table and sitting down. I look at my food and get images of when I would steal food and eat it with Levi and Farlan, before Isabel joined us.
The times I would steal Isabel's food just to mess with her and we would 'fight' for the piece of bread, which I always gave back.
??'s POV
The girl from The Underground sits in the table a few feet behind ours and just stares at her food. I look at her and stand up, about to walk towards her, when a hand grips my wrist. I look and see a girl with red-ish hair in a ponytail and chocolate brown eyes holding my wrist. "You're not thinking on doing what I think you are, are you?" She asks looking from me, to the girl. "Oh come on, how bad could it be?" I ask getting my hand out of her grip. "She's from The Underground! Who knows what she could do!" She says making exaggerated hand movements. I look back at the girl and see a tear falling down her right eye. "Just look at her." I say motioning to her. "She's alone, for Sina's sake! She's just a person with feelings like all of us!"
"Fine." She sighs. "But I'm going with you." She stands up and we both walk towards the girl. "Hi." I say and she looks up, sniffling slightly. "What do you want?" She asks harshly, but her expression says otherwise. "Come on, Atsushi. She doesn't want anyone bothering her." Hibari, the girl with me, says and starts to walk back to the table. I grab her wrist and pull her back. I sit in the chair across from her. "My name's Atsushi Kayaba . What's yours?" I ask, trying to lighten the mood. "Why do you even care?" She says crossing her arms. "You know where I'm from. For all you know, I can be bad news."
"I can't judge someone just from where they're from. I was thought to give people a chance before judging them." I say, shrugging. She says silent for a few seconds. "Elizabeth Magnolia." She says quietly and a small smile makes its way to my face. "Nice to meet you, Elizabeth. So, if I may ask, how did you get here?" I ask looking at her. She sighs and looks down.
Elizabeth's POV
"Well, as you already know, I'm from The Underground." He nod. "I am..." I stop for a moment. "Was a thug. My friends and I are well known down there. We used the 3D Maneuver Gear to steal and try to rise a bit in that dump. We were always in the run from the Military Police and all that stuff. Everything was going fine... Until a few hours ago..."
~Flashback~
After coming out of the building and seeing the soldier, I retract my wires and let myself hit the ground, spinning on my back, to break the fall. I get up and start running again, the soldier behind me.
I take a sharp turn and shoot my wires, going through another house. I come out through another window and feel something heavy fall on me. As we're falling, I turn around and come face to face with a grey eyed male.
I hit the ground and quickly do a backflip, getting up and getting my knife out of my boot. I stop sliding and run towards the soldier, lifting my knife. He deflects my knife and swings his sword towards me, hitting the left side of my face. I groan in pain and look up at the soldier, death glaring at him. I charge at him again, but someone drops in front of me and everything goes black...
~Flashback End~
"And that's how I ended up here..." I finish with a sigh. "Whoa... You've been through a lot... No wonder you're so cold." He simply says. "Hey!" I glare at him. "You try living in that dump alone for fourteen years and then tell me if you're not cold!" I say, stands up and walk out of the Mess Hall.
I walk towards a forest, that's in front of the Mess Hall, and climb a tree, sitting on a branch. I lean my back on the tree, observing the nature around.
I look up at the sky with a sigh, passing a hand through my messy hair.
"Nice, isn't it?" I jump at the unexpected voice and fall of the branch with a groan. I look and see the same boy from the Mess Hall. I stand up and glare at him. "What do you want now?" I growl at him, dusting myself off and crossing my arms. "I wanted to apologize. I shouldn't have said that without knowing your past. I'm sorry." He says sincerely. "Just don't say anything like that. You might regret it later." I turn around and start to walk away.
After a few minutes of walking, I reach the instructor's office and knock on his door. "Come in." The instructor's voice says from inside. I open the door and salute. "I came to ask where I'll be staying, sir!"
"At ease cadet," I drop my salute. "and you will be sleeping in the girls dorm. I see no problem with you staying with them." He says and I nod. "Thank you, sir. Goodnight, sir." I salute. "You are dismissed and goodnight to you too, cadet Magnolia." I nod and walk out of the office, towards the girls dorm.
I start walking towards the girls dorm and sigh.
"This will be one long year..."
