CHAPTER TWO,
HERO.
JOANNA SAT directly across from Ben Harmon, slightly nervous as she looked at him. Joanna was beginning to regret agreeing to attend one of these sessions. She didn't necessarily like talking about her feelings or thoughts, it most likely being due to not ever having the chance to.
But even Joanna had to admit that it felt comforting having someone else to talk to beside Tate. She couldn't exactly talk to her mother, Constance, the two never having been that close. Tate was the favored twin out of the two of them ever since Joanna had been upfront about her suspicions surrounding their father's death as well as her brother, Beau's, death. Things had been tense between the two since then and Joanna was unsure if anything could ever fix their relationship again.
"What else do you like to do besides exploring, Joanna?" Ben asked and Joanna blinked once, waking up from her daydreaming.
"I used to like to draw but I don't do that as much anymore," Joanna answered.
"And what would you draw?" Ben asked.
"Flowers or people mostly. It'd take me hours to finish a drawing sometimes if I really wanted it to come out perfect," Joanna answered.
Joanna soon smiled to herself as she remembered the hours she'd spend drawing. She didn't have a whole lot of friends at school so it'd be mostly Joanna and her drawings. The girl would always feel so proud when she was done creating her latest drawing.
"It sounds like you were quite dedicated. May I ask why you stopped?" Ben questioned.
Joanna shrugged before answering, "Tate didn't really care too much about me drawing. Thought it was stupid and pointless and that it was causing me to spend less time with him. He'd steal my pencils or my notebook and hide them. And when that didn't work, he'd eventually tear out some pages before throwing it away. I gave up a little while after that and stopped completely."
