"Her name? It's...Winters. Evangeline Winters." The majestic women nods her head, looking up at the sun streaming from the heavens. A soft breeze blows through the streets of London and pedestrians carry parasols to shield themselves from the light.
The name may not suit the season in which she was born but she is a child born from death. She was born in a dark time much like winter, but fate birthed her in June a time of light. So fate has named her, a light born from darkness. Evangeline Winters.
June 3, 1813
I wake up from my dream startled by a cold wind passing by. I have been in between sleep and reality since the ambush on me and Dominik. But now, I'm no longer in the arms of a masked stranger but held captive in an unlit room.
The darkness is no longer dark and I can see every speck of dust floating through the air. I attempt to stand up but steel chains restrict my movement. My orange dress is stained with specks of red but the blood does not belong to me. I can hear mice squeaking between the walls and beyond the wall a panicked voice echoes in my ears.
"Your majesty, they have breached our defenses. Are you sure that we should proceed with the counter attack. Creating a stronger defense seems like the better option. By the time we flank them, they will reach the castle gates. Your protection is our top priority, your highness. Maybe it will be in your best interest to go into hiding till the rebellion is diminished."
"Are you saying that I should hide when my men need me the most. That's absurd, it's much to fun to leave now. On with the counter attack we have nothing to lose."
"We have everything to lose, father." Joins another voice belonging to the prince. "The castle, the throne, and, not to mention, our lives! Just return the girl to her mate and all will be well."
"How naive are you! Levi, do you think that a mere girl is their only motive against us? All she did was trigger an uproar that has been transpiring against me for ages." Roared the king.
"We can use her as a ploy to stall until the counter attack reaches the enemy." The other man who is most probably a high ranking officer suggests.
"Very well, then. Levi, why don't you fetch her." I can hear the maliciousness laced in his voice.
Minutes later, the dungeon-like door slams open and Levi struts inside with his eyes piercing me. His eyes hold the same hue as mine a gold mixed with red. His cold touch no longer affects me and his aura doesn't intimidate me in the slightest.
"Why brother?"  I mutter as he unchains me dropping the heavy weights onto the floor. He makes the mistake to release me in a state of shock at my words. I grab the chains off the floor and snap them onto his wrists in less than a second.
He lunges for me but is restricted by the same weapons that constricted me. "I am not your brother, you wench!"
I ignore him and sprint out the door leaving my heels behind me. I somehow know where to run to reach the exit, as though some force is guiding me. I head through secret passages and end up surrounded by trees and flowers in the castle garden.
Dominik's POV
I have rallied my forces; the Scottish empire,
the forces in Manchester (thanks to Sebastian), my men in Cambridge, and countless other British vampires.
"We're actually breaching their defenses!" Vera screams to me excitedly from the other side of the battlefield. I turn to her and wince, my neck still hurts from when it was so rudely snapped by that prick Prince Levi.
Usually, I would never allow Vera to fight alongside my men but no one was going to stop her. Today she is fiercer then ever since her best friend's life is on the line. Plus, she also has Mac with her and I know that damned idiot will protect her.
"Holy shit! Vera!" Mac stands there gawking at Vera who's covered in head to toe with her victims blood. She just shrugs and says, "Come on, you're not seriously scared of a little blood. Get your dumbass together and fight!"
Attagirl! I think as I draw my sword and resume swiftly dueling my enemies. My battling skills are beyond compare and I take out my opponents with ease. Some of those I'm fighting have fought for me or alongside me in previous wars and battles. But nothing will stop me from destroying this wicked kingdom's monarchy.
Turning innocent people into monsters for pleasure, using his power to fight senseless wars instead of initiating peace, starving his people so that he can have more for himself, and hoarding wives like a greedy collector; that's what this bastard king does for his kingdom. He deserves to be dethroned and I will stop at nothing till I see him fall.
Evangeline's POV
The sun has already set but I am unafraid. The darkness is not a disadvantage anymore. I hear an angelic voice singing a sweet tune in the distance. I'm drawn to it by a sense of familiarity and it stops once I reach a beautiful tombstone. It reads Evangeline Victoria, born November 17, 1779 disappeared June 3, 1796. Noble Duchess of Buckingham and wife of Prince Vincent Victoria of England.
The gorgeous tree above the tombstone sways almost as though it is dancing under the moonlight. A tear rolls down my cheek.
From behind me I spot the gleam of silver hair and a strong voice reassures my worries.
"You are the demon king's cursed child. Hidden away from the world by her own mother. So that nothing will ever harm her. Cursed so that her power is revealed when she turns the same age as her mother when she disappeared. When her mother vanished she concealed herself with her own magic. For she is an enchantress and you are a hybrid. Both demon and witch. One of a kind...precious in every aspect."
