8th January, 2252.
Manhattan, New York.
3rd person POV"So, favourite colour?" Ruby asked Ares while they walking through the streets of Manhattan. "Mine is pink of course."
Ruby wasn't a fan of going out by herself, even if it was to walk back home. New York was a big city, and Manhattan was the heart. What if while she was walking home, someone kidnapped her? She'd watched tons of those dramatic Lifetime for Women Movies, yet was absolutely sure if someone was trying to kill her, she'd give herself up to death, since she wasn't the best fighter. She was more of the studious person; she left almost everything else physical to Sam.
Luckily, she didn't have to worry about that. Ares seemed to sense her nervousness when the last bell rung, so he volunteered to walk her home. And she was only to glad to accept.
"Black." He answered flatly.
"Oh my gosh, you're so bland." She huffed. "So where exactly do you live?"
He paused a bit before answering. "Fifth Avenue."
"Oh. That's a bit far from Grayson Street, where we moved to." Ruby licked her lips and decided to ask Ares something that was on her mind, since she started walking. "Do you...possibly wanna come inside...and eat a sandwich or something before you go home? My mom wouldn't mind."
He smiled slightly. "Maybe. Sure. "
Oh my God. I'm inviting boys over to my house?! She thought drastically. It's this weird Manhattan air that's changing me. She smiled inwardly and they continued walking, until they stopped outside her door. She opened the door, stepped inside. Her body tensed when she heard something unusual.
"No! What're you doing with that?"asked an unfamiliar voice.
"Making mac and cheese, duh!" came Sam's voice from the kitchen.
Ares stepped inside and whistled. "Nice place. Pretty cozy." He said.
Ruby blinked. "Sam? I'm home?"
"In the kitchen. I want you to meet someone." Meet someone? No one is supposed to be in the house here with her! Ruby thought.
She set her pink schoolbag down on the couch and walked into the kitchen briskly, with Ares right behind her. He'd set his bag next to hers. This better be good.
Sam was fumbling around with a can opener in one hand, and a can of tomato sauce in the other near the island. Another brown haired girl was sitting on the countertop holding a packet of macaroni and a frying pan in her both hands. The kitchen was in a bit of a mess, with a few pots on the floor, some various canned items all over the countertops, and the cupboard and pantry doors, open and swinging.
Ruby felt as if her blood pressure was going to explode. "Sam! What the heck?!"
Sam rolled her eyes. "Good to see you too-" Her eyes fell on Ares and she smiled. "Oh. You brought company."
Ruby blinked. "So have you."
"You know," Ares teased Ruby. "when you say you have a twin sister, it usually means you and her. Not one other."
"Oh s-she's not my-"
The girl shook her head. "Oh I'm not her sister. Or Sam's.
Sam used the can opener as a pointer. "Eliza, this is my twin sister Ruby. Ruby, this is my new best friend, Eliza Pines."
Eliza smiled. "Pleased to meet you."
Now it was Ruby's turn to do the introducing. "Uh...well. Sam, Eliza, this is my friend Ares La Rue. Ares this is my twin sister Sam." She said, still trying to process where Sam had met Eliza.
