A/N Okay, so like most Hamilton Au stories, not everything will be historically accurate. Like with some characters, I'm going to add in some things of my own. This will happen through the story. Now onwards with the chapter!
Angelica let out a heavy sigh as she combed and brushed her hair to precise perfection. Her father had kept true to his word, she did not find a suitor at the Winter Ball, so he had chosen a young prince for her to marry. They were to be introduced to each other during breakfast.
"Your highness!" Angelica turned around to see on of her maids. "The King calls you for breakfast now."
"Very well, tell him I shall be down in just a moment," Angelica said, adjusting her hair, which was plaited into a beautiful bun, her tiara at the center.
The young maid nodded and left to deliver the message. Angelica glanced at herself in her mirror before she left. She was wearing a pastel pink knee-length dress and a little bit of lip gloss. Even though she looked perfectly calm on the outside, she was very nervous on the inside. She didn't like the feeling. She was the oldest and the wittiest of her sisters, a mind perfectly crafted to be a fine queen since she could walk. Zillions of thoughts were swirling through her head at once, What if he doesn't like me? What if I don't like him? No, no! The Angelica Schuyler does not get scared! The Angelica Schuyler does not get nervous! She thought. But, she did have a reason to be a tad bit nervous. This was the man she would spend the rest of her life with, this was the man she would have children with! With one last intimidating glance at the mirror to boost her confidence, she left her room, headed to the dining hall.
"Angelica!" King Phillip said, grinning. Across the table from him sat a young, handsome, young prince. "This is Prince John Church of Churchlandia!" He motioned a hand towards to boy, who smiled at Angelica. "The servants have set up a nice breakfast for you two in the garden, I shall be taking my leave now, I hope you two bond!" And with that, the king left, leaving only John and Angelica.
John politely offered his hand to Angelica, in which she took, and they walked to the garden together. As soon as they sat down, there was a bit of silence between the two.
"You have a very nice garden, Angelica," John said, looking at the abundance of flowers and plants of all kind.
"Thank you, but my younger sister Peggy tends to plants," Angelica said to him.
"Never in my life have I seen such a beautiful woman as you, my darling. Now tell me, what it is your interest to do?" John asked, delicately kissing Angelica's hand.
"Well, I do enjoy reading a lot, one of my favorite's is Common Sense by Thomas Paine," Angelica said.
"How coincidental! I enjoy reading too, and it seems to me that you are quite the well educated woman," John smiled at her.
"John, please tell me, what do you take fond of in your home kingdom?" Angelica asked, staring into his eyes.
"Back at my home, I enjoy going to orphanages and bringing gifts to the children. Their laughter rings like soft bells in my ears," John said fondly, staring at the horizon.
"John, you do know that our love is merely set up by our father puppeteers who control our strings, correct?" Angelica said, wanting to make sure that the prince knew of the arrangement.
"Yes, I do know my dear Angelica, I have a sweetheart of my own back home. But alas, she is not a princess, nor a queen, so my father made us split. She made me happier than I could ever imagine," John said, sighing wistfully.
Angelica sat in shock for a moment. John was almost exactly like her! Both longing for someone they knew they could never have, an empty void in their heart longing for the person to fill it.
"John.....," Angelica began before trailing off. "Never have I met someone I could relate to so much."
"Come again, Angelica?" John asked, confused at what the princess had meant.
"I too have someone I love that I could never have. My dearest Alexander. I met him at a ball here not too long ago and I immediately fell in love. I wanted to love him, but my sister stole his heart first, I could never admit to her that I love him, it would break her," Angelica sighed, she could've sworn she saw a cloud in the distance that looked exactly like Alexander.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," John started to say before Angelica regained her composure. What am I doing, asking for sympathy from this man? Angelica thought.
"No, it's quite alright, I appreciate your kindness, but I don't need your pity," Angelica firmly said.
"Okay," John hesitantly said.
"John, I have a proposal for you, and no, not the marriage kind. Not yet at least. Anyway, we don't have to be in love with each other. We can rule this kingdom as friends. We will only engage in sexual activities when we need children," Angelica said, but later in her life she would know that that was the biggest lie she ever said.
Instead of responding, John gently kissed Angelica.
"How about we rule this kingdom as much more, my lady," John said with a smirk.
Before he cou,d say something else, Angelica leant in for another kiss. Some people would call her desperate, wanting attention so badly to kiss someone after you just met them. But Angelica felt sparks when she kissed John. She felt fireworks. She had never felt these things around Alexander. Angelica now knows that it is possible to fall in love twice. Even though, there would always be a special place in Angelica's heart for Alexander. As a friend.
