It only took less than a week for Hanahaki to go from minor inconvenience to huge fucking pain. Literally and figuratively.

It hurt. The petals stopped being soft, harmless, simply annoying, and started scraping his throat and bringing blood up with them.

Will didn't look for a pattern. He didn't try and find out who it was, who was causing this damn disease. He didn't believe it was anyone, really. He found out anyway.

"Hang out tomorrow?" Text from Nico, flower petals.

"He's in love with you." Comment from Kayla, about Nico, flower petals.

"I'm surprised you're single," Comment from Nico, flower petals.

"Come hang out backstage again," Idea from Nico, flower petals.

"This article is so well written," Nico, flower petals.

"Dinner again?" Nico, petals.

Nico.

Nico.

It was Nico. It had to be Nico. As much as Will refused the idea, the thought.

He was in love with Nico. Nico was triggering the Hanahaki.

And Will was, never in a million goddamn years, going to admit that. Never ever.

So, anyway.

"No. I'm not sick, that's not-I don't need to miss work-No, Jim, don't tell the boss anything, why-Stop. If I'm fucking sick, I'll call in sick, I'm not fucking stupid. I'm not taking time off just because you think you know what's better for me, Jim. I don't care. Thanks." Will finally hung up on the idiot, sitting back with a sigh. Thank the gods. He was interrupting Will and Nico hanging out.

"You're cute when you're pissed off." Nico commented. Will covered his mouth, coughing and hacking until he'd lost all color in his face. "Are you sure you're not sick?"

"Yeah, I'm sure, it's fine," Will lied. "It's some... I don't know, I should be getting surgery to fix it soon."

"It's bad enough that you need surgery?" Nico questioned, concerned.

"It's fine. Don't worry."

"I highly doubt that it is fine, You don't have to lie, you know."

"Nico, please drop it. I'm fine. I'm heading back to my apartment, I have shit to do, see you later. Text me when you can hang out again."
