Will was.., Different, after wednesday.
Nico assumed it was due to the surgery, surgery can leave people exhausted, but this was different. Nico wasn't amazing with people skills, and he could tell.
"Jus got outta surgery, hang out?" Will had texted.
"Shouldn't you be resting or something?"
"Different kinda surgery, I mean yeah but not a lot. So? Can I go to your place? I can rest there too"
"Sure."
For one, Will seemed a bit... Needy. He seemed to be trying to, impress Nico? Get compliments out of him? That's how it seemed, at least.
"Hey, what did you say about my eyes the other day?" Will asked eagerly.
"That they look like the sky and are really nice?"
A pause. There was always a pause after every compliment, like Will was expecting something big to happen. When it didn't, he had this nice, satisfied smile.
Yeah, Nico found that odd, but he also really liked Will's smile, so it wasn't like he was going to not do anything in his power to get to see it.
"How'd that surgery go?"
"Amazingly. Without a hitch. I'm so fucking happy I got it." Will answered, and genuinely.
"What was it even for? What did you have?"
"Unimportant," Will's expression went blank, "What matters is that it's over with and I don't have to deal with it anymore."
"That's good to hear. I was worried for you."
Pause.
"I'm glad to hear that. I'm all good now, though."
"Good. I got some of that chocolate you like, Dove, do you want some?" Nico offered.
Pause. So it wasn't really just when Nico complimented him.
"Hell yeah, thanks man. You're the best."
"No, that's you."
Pause.
"Pfft, okay, sure, whatever."
This was bizarre.
