The cold wind stung Annabeth's face as she ran. Her teeth clattered and her hair hit her face each step she took. But Annabeth didn't mind the cold. Winter was in full swing. It had been a month and a half after Nico. She was coping and Percy was doing extremely well considering he started dating Rachel. That back-stabbing witch. She trusted her and Rachel ended up dating him. The so called "jerk face" in her words. Her blood-boiled at the thought. But Annabeth tried to convince herself that she was over him. She tried to convince herself that she didn't like him. But she wasn't convincing enough.

She was distracted from her thoughts when she nearly bumped into someone. The person was a good 1 foot taller than her so she had to crane her neck just to meet his pale blue eyes and hazel brown left eye. She immediately recognised who it was...Luke Castellan.

"Watch were your going," she said, between gritted teeth. She brushed past him but not before he placed an arm on her shoulder. She shoved it off and turned to face him her eyes filled with anger and hatred.

"Oh gods, chill," he said, raising his arms in mock surrender. A smug grin covering his face. "Please don't break my shoulder,"

"I really don't have time for this," she said letting out a short chuckle, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

"Come on," he said, lightly touching her shoulder. "I'm sorry about kidnapping your boyfriend and-"

"He's not my boyfriend," she growled, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Uh, okay. Sorry for kidnapping Percy," he corrected. "I didn't even want to, but Octavian kinda forced me. And I'm also really sorry about your friend. I heard what Octavian did. I never expected him to go that far,"

"I really don't care about your apology," she said, rolling her eyes and turning around on her heels. She walked forwards but realised that Luke wasn't going away that easily. He followed her, hot on her heels. After a minute she turned back to face him and let out a puff of air placing her hands on her hips. "Luke,"

"Please, just let me make it up to you," he begged, pouting. Annabeth laughed and nodded lightly encouraging him to continue his offer, even though there was no way she was considering it. But she was bored so why not. "Um... let me take you out,"

"W-What?" Annabeth choked, trying to contain her laughter. Who does he think he is? "Like on a date?"

"Yeah?" He said, unsure. He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly as he moved back and forth an his toes. His cheeks tinted a light shade of pink, though, Annabeth wasn't sure if it was just because of the weather. "I'm sorry just forg-"

"You want me to go on a date with you?" She asked, incredulously. Ignoring Luke's previous sentence. "To make it up for kidnapping, my boyfr- my client?"

"Yes?" He said, them put his face in his hands colour rushing to his cheeks. "Please?"

"You know what, sure." she sighed, surprising both Luke and herself. What was she thinking?

"W-wait, r-really?" He asked, his eyes wide and a dorky grin covering his face. Okay, he was pretty cute.

"Yeah, when?" She asked, walking forward with Luke by her side.

"Um, 7 pm today at Echoes?" He asked, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"See you there," Annabeth confirmed, going back to jogging leaving an awestruck Luke behind her. When she turned around to check whether Luke was following her she saw him raise a fist up in the air in success. As a huge sheepish grin covered his face when he noticed Annabeth was staring at him. Annabeth chuckled lightly to herself and continued. Maybe this wasn't gonna so bad after all.

Annabeth paced around her room throwing clothes everywhere trying to find out what to wear for her "date". She didn't want to call it that but it sure felt like it was real. This time she wasn't going to be so easy on Luke like she was on Percy. There's a weird feeling at the back of her mind that Luke will break her heart like Percy. She wasn't going to allow herself to fall as far for Luke.

She glanced at the time and gasped since it was only ten minutes till 7. She grabbed a random leather jacket with a white shirt and blue jeans. She tied her hair up into her usual ponytail and left the blue house.
She still stayed there because of her job but for the past few days Percy hasn't stepped outside the house. So, Annabeth didn't have to see his face or do work. She thought that that was a win-win situation.

She cold air brushed face sending shivers down her spine. She quickly got into her mustang and started the engine. She twisted the key a few times before it finally started. She tried to switch on the radio but the audio system seemed to have crashed.

It was an old car but she didn't expect it break down one by one. She quickly started to drive well, if you consider travelling one inch in 30 seconds fast then sure.

Soon after the big shining neon sign which had 'Echoes' written on it came to her view. She smiled to herself and got out of the car.

She walked into the small coffee shop and looked around for a certain blond haired boy. That's when she saw a familiar face waving her over. She smiled lightly at him and walked over to the table. Luke got up and pulled out the chair for her and tipped his imaginary hat after Annabeth sat down.

"Hello, miss," He said, with a goofy grin. "How was your day?"

"Boring, same old routine," she said, taking the menu from her table. She traced her fingers along the wooden engraving that surrounded the menu. The engraving were so beautiful that was her favourite part of coming to 'Echoes'.

"You go to dates on a daily basis?" He asked smiling just as Annabeth was about respond Luke continued. "I mean I kinda understand because you look like really really good,"

"No, I don't go on dates everyday," she said, laughing lightly. A small blush managing to tint her cheeks. "And you don't look to bad yourself,"

Luke places his hand on his chest and closed his eyes a smile covering his face. "My life is complete, The Annabeth Chase called me okay looking," he said.

A good few hours of eating food and Luke's stupid flirting they headed out. Annabeth was happy for the first time on a while. After everything that happened this was kinda reassuring. She started having hope again.

"Okay so, can I expect a second date?" He asked, swaying nervously on his toes.

"Sure, call me," she said, smiling. She stood in her tiptoes and kissed him on the cheek causing her and him to blush furiously.
