Chapter 6
Raven absolutely loved performing in the new surroundings. Coloured lights flashed her way occasionally, not enough to be disorientating yet enough to generate excitement. There was just one thing she wasn't happy about, the two cousins were three songs into their set and Spencer still had her back turned. Raven, however, had an idea.
"Corvin." She called as their third song ended. "I'm gonna do the rap in this one."
"You sure?" He asked and Raven nodded resolutely.
She took a deep breath, feeling mildly apprehensive as she wasn't entirely confident in her rapping abilities, but she knew it by heart. It was hard, but it was Kanye West, and if this didn't get the other girl's attention, Raven wasn't sure what would. So, sending the back of Spencer's leather jacket one last glare, she heard Corvin strum the chords and began to rap.
"I got a dirty mind I got filthy ways I'm tryna bathe my ape in your Milky Way I'm a legend I'm irreverent I be reverend I'll be so faaaaa-ar up We don't give a fuck Welcome to the danger zone Step into the fantasy You are now invited to the other side of sanity They callin' me an alien a big headed astronaut Maybe it's because ya boy Yeezy get ass a lot"
Spencer turned around instantaneously with surprised eyes, obviously recognising the song. Raven grinned in triumph. You can't ignore a musician. She thought in amusement, meeting Spencer's eyes with a smirk before she started to finish the song, satisfied that she had now gained the blue eyed girl's attention.
By the time their set ended, Raven's voice was shot, but they were congratulated by everyone in sight as they left the stage, so she didn't mind too much. She made her way past the people gathered on the dance floor, her eyes scanning faces furtively in search of Matthew, or something cold to drink.
"You look like you could use some water." Came a voice from behind her, Raven whipped around to see Spencer holding up a bottle of Evian. "Too bad I only have one." Smirked the blonde haired girl before uncapping the bottle and drinking half of it in a single gulp.
Raven's mouth dropped open at the other girls sarcastic wink, and she cursed the surge of heat that ran through her body. "Bitch." She croaked, walking away from the smug blonde and rolling her eyes in annoyance. The brunette cursed herself on her bad judgement because, crush or no crush, Spencer Lyall was a real bitch

After that night, apart from Spencer's blatant arrogance towards her, everything in Raven's life seemed to be progressing as normal. But, like most good things in her life, that security didn't last long. One Sunday afternoon, the day before thanksgiving, the jingle of keys and the twist of a lock made both Raven and Corvin dash towards the front door excitedly.
However, instead of two men, there was only one. There was a heavy silence as her uncle shut the door behind him.
"Uncle Tito?" Raven asked, her voice rising in pitch as a display of her anxiety. "¿Donde es mí papa?"
