Chapter 12
"But Matthew." Raven whined from the passenger seat of his car. "I'm awful at soccer. In fact, I'm awful at just about anything that involves exercise...except maybe dancing."
"Yeah well, we're having a family soccer game and Uncle Malcom asked if you wanted to come along. You can't say no to the alpha." He said sternly as he glanced at his watch. "Plus we were meant to be there ten minutes ago, so I have no time to take your pussy ass home."
"Hey! It's not my fault you insisted on getting a McDonald's at 3 PM." The small brunette grumbled her protest. Raven would have been fully content to just stay with Spencer in her room for the rest of the day, but Matthew (who had already dragged her around the mall) dragged her first to McDonald's and then to a field for their family soccer game.
Raven hated soccer, but Spencer was going to be there so she decided she didn't mind too much.
A few minutes later they were pulling up by a large, open field where the Lyall family stood, watching them impatiently. Lacey was the first to greet Raven when she stepped out of the car, running with such enthusiasm that the brunette had to catch the small girl mid-jump.
"Raven!" She squealed excitedly as she hugged the Latina tightly.
"Hey Lacey." Raven replied just as Matthew decided to explain their lateness.
"Sorry about the wait." He said before smirking at his brown haired best friend. "Raven wanted McDonald's."
The small brunette gasped in outrage. "That is not true!" She shouted, placing Lacey carefully on the ground. "You were the one that wanted it!" Raven pointed at him accusingly.
Thankfully, the rest of Matthew's family seemed to know who was telling the truth, much to Raven's relief.
"You any good at soccer, Raven?" Marco asked teasingly, making the brunette laugh derisively.
"Honestly? I completely suck." She admitted, making Marco smile knowingly.
"Yeah, I figured." He chuckled and Raven shoved him as a display of her outrage.
"Hey!" She exclaimed jokingly. "What's that supposed to mean."
Marco shrugged, still wearing that knowing smile. "You just don't strike me as the...athletic type."
"Is that a nice way of calling me fat?" She joked eliciting a laugh from the older boy.
"You said it, not me." Marco said, holding his hands up in mock surrender.
Raven rolled her brown eyes "So how d'you pick the teams then?" She asked no one in particular, it was Sadie that answered.
"We've already picked them. Me, dad, Matthew and Aunt Fiona against Spencer, Uncle Tony, Aunt Julia, Marco and Lacey." She said making Raven smile widely and respond before Sadie had finished
