Chapter 7
Raven could safely say that the following day was the worst thanksgiving she had ever experienced.
To kick it all off, she burnt the turkey, spilt the gravy and forgot to put potatoes on the shopping list. Not to mention that after their hearty dinner of beans and sausages, her uncle disappeared out the front door, mumbling something about needing a beer, and didn't come back until 2AM. All of that, coupled with the fact that it was her first Thanksgiving without her father, made it a pretty miserable affair.
It lead to Corvin dozing in an armchair while Raven sat thinking about werewolves under the pretence of watching reruns of Friends. Spencer Lyall didn't, at first glance, strike her as the sort of person with a furry secret. When she thought about it in a little more depth, however, Raven didn't find it hard to believe that the blonde haired girl had the ability to transform into a great wolf.
She was short-tempered, constantly moody and Raven could swear she'd actually heard Spencer growl in anger once or twice. She was also athletic and tall and surprisingly muscular. All she was missing was copious amounts of dark body hair to match the typical werewolf image.
Stereotypes were made to be broken though, at least, Raven thought so.
Raven knew she shouldn't assume that the rest of the Lyall's were werewolves too, at least, not until she plucked up the courage to talk to Spencer about it, which was likely to be the 24th of never.
Her olive cheeks coloured slightly as she remembered Spencer's reaction to her nudity. The situation was incredibly embarrassing, yet Raven couldn't quite bring herself to forget the way the blonde haired girl had been unable to tear her darkened blue eyes from Raven's exposed skin.
The thought of Spencer finding her attractive was exciting, regardless of how cold and annoying she was.
So, all in all, after a dismal week-long break, Raven was more than ready for school to start back up again, even though it meant facing Spencer Lyall after the big shapeshifting secret reveal which was bound to be...awkward, at least on Raven's part.
However, it shouldn't have come as any sort of surprise when Spencer completely ignored her existence on Monday and on Tuesday and on Wednesday.
"My dad told me to ask whether you'd be able to perform at Sadie's birthday party." Matthew stated as the sat in the quad at lunchtime on Thursday, looking between Corvin and Raven who sat opposite him.
Raven, who's eyes had been following a certain blonde haired girl who had crossed the quad, met her gaze, and turned right back around, looked back at her friend. Spencer had been ignoring her for the last four days, and it was really beginning to grate on her nerves.
"Yeah, sure." She smiled, ignoring the blonde haired girl's rudeness. "When's her birthday?"
"It's December 16th, but her party's on the Saturday night." He explained, checking the dates on his phone. "Yeah, the party's at 8:30 on the 15th."
