I slung my book bag onto my back, which had food, water, and a sleeping bag, and attached my dagger to my jeans. We had to pack lightly to make sure we could carry lots of supplies and be quick, though it would take a few days. I looked up to see Roland hiding a knife in his boot. He already had a crossbow and machete.

"Where are you getting all of these weapons?" I asked. Our stock couldn't have been that big.

"Around. Don't worry, there are still plenty for our little group to protect themselves. Speaking of our group, who's leading them?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Ingrid. And you don't have to agree with my choice, I just chose somebody who was reasonable and would look out for everyone's well-being." I laced up my boots as he stood up, snorting in disgust. No eye roll could match the one I did at that moment. I followed him out of the small hut, where Travis was playing with a knife.

"Why were you ever trusted with a weapon?" I groaned.

"Well, since Imma be leaving for a bit, I should arm myself. And nobody said I couldn't play with knives." He stuck his tongue out at me. What a child.

"Well, I am now. Put that away and let's go. We need to stop stalling." I began walking, and after about a moment I heard the other two behind me.

We began the long trek down the mountain, pausing every hour or so to kill a corpse. By the time we reached the bottom it was nightfall, and we needed a place to sleep.

After searching for about thirty minutes, we came across a small, two-story cabin.

"Hello?" I called quietly and knocked on the door. After trying again and receiving no answer, Roland smashed the pain of glass and reached inside, unlocking the door. We walked in, using flashlights to check the surroundings. I ascended the stairs, finishing nothing by two small rooms, each with a set of bunk beds.

"Clear," Travis called out.

"Same here. I found two bedrooms," I returned.

They came upstairs, taking one room while I took the other. I locked the door and unrolled my sleeping bag. The bed felt like a cloud, and I was asleep within minutes.
