Yoongi and Abby had spent all their days together since they met on the roof. They knew each other's quirks, flaws, and desires.
They both desired love, happiness, and a sense of belonging, but also knew that they could not provide it for each other in the way they both wanted. Or at least they thought they both shared the belief.
The two sat in the warmth of the library that strongly combated the chill of the snowy city that they called home.
"Hey Yoongi," Abby began. "We've been togeth- I mean friends for a while now and I just wanted you to know how grateful I am that you found me on that roof. You have not only saved my life, but also continuously give me a reason to live."
"As you have done for me," said Yoongi as he rolled the sleeves of his flannel up his arms before leaning back, resting his weight on the palms of his hands.
"So how do you do number-," Abby was interrupted by a man with light brown hair and a muscular build.
"Hi, I'm Jackson. We have a few classes together, and you're really cute, and yeah I was just wondering if I could take you out tomorrow. If you aren't already taken of course," he added as he looked over at Yoongi who was glaring at him when Abby wasn't paying attention.
Abby looked over to see Yoongi's reaction and was disappointed to find that he was completely unbothered by the mans advances on his best friend. With anger coursing through her veins she turned back to Jackson, her hair hitting Yoongi's face in the process.
"I'm actually free tomorrow, what time is good for you?" She questioned.
''How about we meet up as soon as class is over?" Jackson suggested.
"Sounds great, give me your phone,'' Abby ordered as she held her hand out to the older.
Jackson quickly scrambled to retrieve his phone from his pocket and handed it to the brunette, closely following her every move. Once Abby was finished, she handed Jackson back his phone then gave him a small smile before turning back to Yoongi.
''So are we done here?" She inquired.
"Um do you wanna be done?"
"Yeah. I was thinking Jackson and I can go get a coffee or something," Abby began as she turned towards the man. "Ya know, like a little predate. You can join if you want.'' Every word Abby spoke hurt both her and Yoongi, but she was certain he didn't care.
"Nah I'd rather not be a third wheel," Yoongi declined.
"Well I'll swing by your place later Yoong's."
Yoongi couldn't do anything but nod as Abby put her books in her bag and walked off with Jackson.
...
Jackson was quite the social butterfly, unlike Yoongi. As him and Abby walked off campus, everyone waved or said goodbye to him with a smile on their face. Jackson smiled in return and Abby could tell it was genuine. She herself was so used to faking a smile but overtime she had learned to distinguish Yoongi's false smile that he put on for the world and the genuine one that was reserved for her. Getting to know Yoongi the way she does wasn't an easy feat, but she had discovered his true self that was hidden behind his mask.
Jackson had grown agitated due to the thick silence that hung in the air and Abby could tell. She had nothing against conversation, she was just so used to silence since her friends abandoned her for their new lives and Yoongi wasn't much for socializing. Maybe her and Jackson were more alike then she thought.
