HER AND I, HIM AND HER, HIM AND I

SUSPICIOUS

I could hear that Sabrina was finishing up her conversation so I jumped back from the door and sat on the couch like I was there the whole time. She came out saw me and gave me a hug.

"How was the gym today baby?"

"I got to workout all the areas I wanted to. What you been up to?"

"Well you may not have noticed but I cleaned the house when you were out and gave got our son ready for our adventure today."

I wanted so bad to ask her who she was talking to but I did not want her to get upset like she did the other day. I have a strange feeling she is creeping around but I do not have any concrete proof to start asking any more questions. I thanked her for cleaning the home and getting our son ready and we headed out to the lake. Once we arrived everything seemed fine. We were all sitting on a bench enjoying our snacks and looking at the lake. Sabrina leaned on my shoulder and I caressed her head. I felt like this was a perfect moment.

We then went for a walk around the lake and park area. I had no idea the park trail was that long until I realized I was breaking a sweat. We were about to go back to the car when Sabrina got a call. She looked at me and then at her phone and let it ring.

"You going to get that baby?", I asked.

She looked at me kind of nervous and then said, "no, I will wait until we are home."

At this point I knew that something was up. I did not want to confront her at the park so I waited until we both got in the car.

"So who keeps calling you baby?"

"Lenny we went over this, it is just my family."

"Ok, so when your family used to call you would at least take the call in front of me  but with this one you waiting."

"Do not start today Lenny. We have been having a good day and I want to keep it that way."

"Naw Sabrina. You been acting different lately. I even heard you talking to someone in the bathroom earlier."

"You were listening to my conversation Lenny? Is that what it has come down to nigga?"

"First off, lower your voice our son is sleep in the back and second why you getting so defensive?"

"I am not defensive I am just upset about what you are implying."

"What did I imply?"

"That I am lying, Lenny. I have no reason to lie to you."

I was getting upset so I decided to drop the conversation. We arrived home I got our son out of the back of the car and put him in bed. I saw Sabrina in the kitchen looking at her phone and then texting someone. She saw me staring and rolled her neck and eyes at me.

"What the fuck you staring over here like that for?", She asked.

"Just trying to figure out what is going on, that is all."

"Its all in your head Lenny. You are being irrational."

"And you are acting suspicious Sabrina!"

"You need to back up off of me. I am not in the mood to argue with you."

"Sabrina you know what? Let me just see your phone."

Sabrina grabbed her phone and held it to her close.

"No!", she said.

I came from where I was standing in the living room and went towards her in the kitchen. She started to run towards our bedroom. She got to the door shut it right in my face and locked it.

"Open this door Sabrina!", I yelled.

She did not respond to me. I then began banging on the door for her to open.

"I ain't doing shit until you calm down."

"Sabrina I just asked you for your phone. I am not being aggressive or unreasonable, just give me the phone."

I waited about a minute or so until she opened the door. She threw the phone at me and then sat down on the couch. I went to her recent calls lists and recent messages and saw that just about everything had been deleted.

"I know you deleted some recent calls and messages off of your phone. Do not lie to me who have you been talking to lately?"

"Do you see anyone in the phone recently? You have nothing to go on. I deleted the messages and calls to teach you a lesson. My phone is for me and private."

"I pay the damn bill if you have not forgot Sabrina!"

"Oh so you want to go there with me. You know I would pay for my own if I could. You know what I am out of here."

"You probably going to see whoever you were talking to while you were in the bathroom earlier. I know how it goes. Start an argument so you can leave."

"Fuck you Lenny. I need to cool down from your pointless suspicions and behavior."

Before I could stop her she left out of the house with her phone and my damn keys. I wanted to chase her but I did not want to leave my son in the house by himself. She was acting so strange lately and I know something was going on. A few hours went by and our son got up and wanted something to eat. I cooked a small dinner and texted Sabrina to come home and eat. She did not respond. I waited until my son was finished eating and then we watched some of his cartoons. I ended up falling asleep on the couch next to him.

I woke up and looked and saw that Sabrina was not back home yet. It was about 1am when I looked at my phone. I called her but it went straight to voicemail. I was growing angry and impatient. About 30 minutes went by and  I was about to call up her sister when she walked through the door.

"Where the hell have you been Sabrina?"

"I been....minding my damn business nigga."

"Sabrina come sit down we need to talk", I said making some room beside me on the couch.

"No the time to talk was earlier but you decided to want to accuse me of some bullshit."

She swayed into our room and I realized that she was under the influence of something. I made her turn over to face me on the bed.

"Sabrina just tell me what the hell is going on with you lately."

"Do not do this right now I am tired, have a headache and am in no mood to discuss anything with you at the moment."

I looked at her and realized she was either too high or too drunk to have a civilized conversation at this moment. I was so upset but needed her to have a clear head in order to speak with me seriously. I saw our son was still sleep and then came back into the room. Sabrina had went to sleep with her shoes still on. I took them off and put the covers over her and then jumped into bed myself. Sabrina was acting so damn strange lately and deep down I knew she was lying to me about who was calling her and I knew that there was more going on than I knew. I kept thinking about the idea of her stepping out on me and I quickly dismissed it. I then fell asleep.
