I lit the last strawberry scented candle and tied the sash on my robe. I invited Jesse over after Carter lied to me this morning. I knew he was a drug kingpin when Parker first dragged me to meet him. He didn't have to lie but he did. So I invited Jesse over so we could make up and maybe get intimate with each other for the first time.

I heard knocking on the door, and walked downstairs to open it. I was surprised and a little worried to see Carter standing there. He walked past me into the house and I closed the door. "What're you doing here?" I asked. He looked me up and down and smirked.

"You expectin' someone that ain't me? I told you I was gonna come over when I got done taking care of business." Just the mention of his "business" was getting on my nerves. I rolled my eyes and chuckled.

"Well, I am expecting company, so can you please stop by another time?" I asked him as he inched closer to me. He pulled me into his body and buried his head in my neck. I naturally wrapped my arms around him and sniffed his cologne. All I could think about in the back of my mind was Jesse knocking on the door and all hell breaking loose. I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't hear the doorbell ring. I was snapped out of my thoughts when Carter moved me to answer it. I briskly walked behind him and stood back as he opened the door.

"What are you doing here?" He asked Jesse, who was standing there holding red roses. I walked over between them and took the roses out of his hand. Carter looked at me in disbelief and laughed. "So this the clown you was gettin' dressed up for? Tuh," He said, walking out the door, bumping Jesse on the way out. I quickly handed Jesse his roses back and ran out into the warm air. I grabbed Carter's arm before he could unlock the door to his car, and spun him around. "Leave me alone, Ma. I don't wanna hurt you." He said, before unlocking his car door and getting in. I knocked on the window and he drove off super fast, bending the swirl in the driveway and leaving. I tied the sash to my robe and walked back in the house. Jesse was standing in the middle of my living room, looking around at the paintings and candles.

"This all for me?" He asked. I nodded my head and sighed.

"This isn't right," I said. I walked over to him and kissed his lips one last time. I grabbed his hands in mine. "I don't love you like you love me, J. I love you as a friend, but I love Carter." He looked at me and snatched his hands away from me.

"So you have been cheatin' on me with that nigga! I knew it from the beginning." He yelled in my face. My face screwed up into a frown and I slapped his face as hard as I could.

"I never cheated on you, why would I lie to you like that? You're a really nice guy, or you were. But I see jealousy has taken over. That's why I had to end whatever we had going on before you got too caught up in me." I explained. He stood in front of me with his arms crossed and a mean expression on his face. He looked like he was gonna explode at any moment, and him being from New York, I knew that could happen.

"You been leading me on this whole time, and that shit ain't cool. But it's okay cause I got niggas for bitches like you. Playin' wit a nigga emotions and shit. I gave you a lot of my time, and this is how you treat me?" He asked me, flailing his arms around. "And tonight, what was you gonna do, have sex with me and then dump me?" I actually never thought about it that way. I thought love would come with us but it never did. And I was angry at Carter for not telling me the whole truth about his life.

I threw my hands into the air. "I don't know why I invited you over here, okay? I just acted off of instinct, and it was a mistake. This whole thing was a mistake. So that's why I'm breaking up with you, and you need to leave." I rambled on. He picked up his roses off my glass coffee table, and walked to the door. He turned around before going out.

"You gone get yours, Baby. Betta watch yo back." He said errily. His whole tone of voice gave my body the chills but not in a good way. I slammed the door behind him and walked up stairs to my room, blowing candles out on the way. I walked into my room and laid down under my french duvet, picking up my phone and dialing Carter. The phone rang twice and went straight to voicemail. I called again and the same thing happened. He wasn't answering my calls, and it hurt my feelings. I didn't bother to leave a message and I cried myself to sleep.

I woke up in the morning with dry, red eyes and a headache. I looked at my phone to see if I had any messages from Carter, but I had just one from Parker. I went into my bathroom and turned the shower on, letting the water heat up, and stripped out of my red negligee. I did my hygiene thing and picked out something to wear. While I was debating, I picked up my phone and called Park, putting her on speaker.

"Wassup, Bitch!" She yelled loudly. I giggled a little to myself at her goofy attitude. She was acting kinda shady when I was moving and at my party, so this was a nice change. I reached in my closet and pulled out a pair of black, tight shorts with my cowgirl belt, a black and red Henley shirt and a pair of black Giuseppe Zanotti sneaker wedges, with diamond encrusted velcro straps. I brought it over to the bed and started to get dressed.

"So what's up for today, Park?" I asked her. She always wanted to do something with me and JuJu, and always had ideas for fun. "Let me tell you that I'm wearing wedges today, so I ain't finna be walkin' around the fuckin' city muthafucka!" I said, jokingly. She laughed and I put my hair into a high ponytail, while she talked about her latest problems. "So back to where we goin'." I said, trying to get her back on track.

"Oh yeah, tonight I wanna go to this new club on Rodeo. Juju can't come but I figured we could make it into a girls thing. But right now, I just want to go to brunch and eat till my ass falls off!" She said, chuckling. I stood up and grabbed my black Michael Kors tote bag and put in the necessary items.

"Alright, Ima be at your house in a couple minutes. So be ready." I warned her. Everytime I come to hang out, she ain't never ready for shit!

I walked out to my red 2014 BMW and unlocked it, getting in. I turned it on and put in a Tupac cd, blasting How Do You Want It. When I got there, she was ready and waiting for me outside. She got in the passenger seat and gave me a kiss on the cheek. "Wassup, baby?" She said, settling into the red and black seat. I pulled out of her driveway and started driving us to a local diner on Hollywood Boulevard called Valentina's.

"Nothing, shit. I finally broke up with Jesse last night." I told her. She jerked her head towards me and frowned.

"I thought you liked J. Any new prospects in sight?" She asked. I nodded my head.

"I kind of like Carter right now." I admitted. She frowned harder and looked at her phone. "What?" I asked.

"Nothing, I just don't think he's right for you. I mean, ain't he a little rough around the edges? Plus do you know what your daddy is gonna say if he ever finds out that he's a drug dealer? That ain't a good look for the business." She explained.

"If I didn't know any better, I would think you tryna turn me off to Carter." I said, pulling up to the diner. She put her purse on her arm and opened the car door.

"I'm just tryna look out for you." She said, getting out the car, with me behind her.
