Winter's Crown

And then my heart remembered
A trillion million season's ago
When the summer dulled against winter's glow.
Back then, the wild winds sang
Their enchantments to escape daylight
Each note flew like a kite stuck in flight.
They gave all they had to the endless night

Then came the dawn
A silver sun that lay light years away
Close enough to shine
Too far up high to stay
But it didn't matter
There was no dishonesty found in the dark.
Just a parched emptiness before a spark
It sang to me, louder than cooling sandy shores
Kinder than light's harsh red mark

Winter has a sort of pulchritude
The kind that never dulls with a shivering, sassy attitude
The kind that blinds from down below
A radiant reflection that starts with the snow

Sometimes I fall prey to the pull of the sun
The yellow fields, the blue streams that run.
But then heart remembers
That half starved ache in my bones

To venture into the deep dark unknown
To a pool of silver stars I'll dive
They'll numb me from inside but make me feel alive
Spring blossoms, Autumn fades.
Summer flickers but Winter reigns.

Is this it?

??
????

??????????

I'll call it the second trial
....Until further notice
