"Mom?" Daehwi gasps silently.
"Son, are you okay?"
Daehwi didn't know how to speak. His mother's voice, which he barely even recognized made him burst into tears.
"Okay? You really think I'm okay?" Daehwi cries into the phone.
He was in shock. It's been years.
"Daehwi-"
"Why are you calling me?"
"I saw what happened, you're gay?"
Why did she care.
"How the fuck did you get my number."
"Daehwi, that is no way to talk to your own mother."
"Mother? You're not my mother," Daehwi chuckles bitterly.
"Daehwi-" She tries to speak, but Daehwi stops her.
"I just think it's funny," Daehwi starts.
"Think what's funny?"
"How long it's been." Daehwi chuckles for the second time in the minute. He was going crazy as the time went on.
"I-"
"You know how long it's been? Three years. Three years since you've called me," Daehwi sobs into the phone, clearly drunk.
"Have you been drinking?"
"Don't fucking change t-the topic," Daehwi hiccups.
"Son..."
"You don't care," Daehwi says, gripping harshly on the almost empty beer bottle in his band.
"I do."
"No you fucking don't. You don't care at all! Where were you when I needed you the most? When I debuted, all I had was my members, and now they're fucking gone. I fucked up, I fucked up so badly but you weren't there to comfort me were you? Of course not, you didn't even know I debuted," Daehwi cries, walking faster each minute, no specific place in mind to go to.
"I was trying to find you, but I couldn't."
She was lying.
"..."
"Son..."
"Would you shut up? Son. That's a funny word coming out of your mouth considering that you haven't even bothered to reach out to me, ask me how my fucking career was doing, if I've been getting enough sleep or eating, if I had a love life, or even just to say hi. It's been three years, three years of you basically out of my life and now you want to know how I'm doing? Yeah, I'm gay and I have a boyfriend and unlike you who disappeared out of my life when all I wanted to do was follow my dreams, he actually supports me."
"Daeh-"
"Fuck off, what makes you think that I want to talk to you?" Daehwi walks further and further away from the house as he speaks.
"I'm sorry,"
"No you're not," Daehwi hiccups.
"I heard about what happened, where are you staying right now?"
"Wow, so me being homeless is what it took for you to call me," Daehwi says, looking down at the road. It was raining now.
"No, that's not-"
"Bye," Daehwi hangs up and throws his phone on the pavement harshly.
He falls to the side of the empty road and cries.
Why did she suddenly care?
After three years, she suddenly cared? Daehwi didn't want to have anything to do with her. He hated her.
He sobbed for half an hour, on the side of the road that not one car drove down in the time he was there.
He lost everything, got humiliated in front of the whole population of korea, and became suicidal in the span of one month.
What else could happen? What else could come crashing into his life that could make it ten times worse than it already was?
He wanted to die.
Daehwi picks up his now shattered phone, and to its surprise it still worked fine.
Tears fell onto the screen, making it even harder to see what was displayed on his screen.
