This whole story is based upon real life events. This place is based upon the Perhentian Islands located in Malaysia. I have personally been there before and all the pictures in this book are actually pictures that I've taken myself, since I wanted to showcase the real side of it. So sorry if the images are not of the best quality, since I'm not really an expert photographer.
The word Maharaja Laut, literally translates to Prince of the sea, hence the title. I tried to base this story upon the local fishermen living in that area, capturing their lifestyle the best way I could. The pollution part and picking up rubbish is also true. The inspiration came from me when I saw some of the locals seated in a speedboat and picking up rubbish found in the sea near the shoreline.
Yes, the island was absolutely beautiful. Though, rubbish were still visibly present in parts of the more remote areas of the islands. It was a really beautiful place and was sort of a shame to find those little amounts of rubbish there.
