6-💨 The Delay

"Should  I call this my one week stay" Cassie asked Rachel who was busy knitting a red and green sweater.

  "You've seen your new mum, it is" Rachel replied dully, and Cassie did understand why, she had same feeling before. Anna that was Rachel best friend had gone to her new parents. They said they wanted her before Christmas and that brought the sting of Cassie wanting to go home before Christmas.

  Rachel was already missing Anna, just like Cassie was missing Bea.

  Rachel sigh" I'm happy for Anna but I'll miss her so much, now you too leaving" she choked on the words starting to sob.

  Cassie pulled her for a hug,gently patting her head.

"I'll visit often and I'll get Anna and Clara to visit too" Cassie assured her.

Rachel raised her head, wiping her tears.

  "Could I help you pack and give you a makeover"

Three girls ran past them singing a Christmas carol Cassie knew well

  "Like it this way" Rachel held up a small mirror to Cassie face, Cassie smiled and turned to face the full-length mirror and OMG!!! Her hair was beautiful, shoulder length with new wavy curls, and it was shiny black.

  "Rachel,you should be a make up artist" Cassie laughed

"Duh,I'm good right" Rachel had cone out of her crying mood.

"Of course you are,you gave Bea, Clara and Anna gorgeous go away make up before they left"

  Rachel smiled and went back selecting Cassie go away clothes.

  "Ehm Rachel" Cassie called remembering something that was on her mind.

     "Uh"

"If it was my one week stay, won't Mrs Nas tell me that"

  "Haven't she" Rachel asked

"Not really, after I met my new mum, Mrs Nas told me to go and let them arrange my adoption form"

  "Maybe you should go ask her" Rachel said folding a pink sweater in Cassie suitcase "And you won't be needing much clothes since you'll get new ones over there"

In Mrs Nas room, it was smaller, less official like Mrs Thompson own.

Cassie knocked twice before Mrs Nas answered.

"Cassie, cheers merry Christmas in advance" Mrs Nas cooed as she poured the red wine decorated in ribbons in a glass cup. After Cassie took her seat, she poured out a glass for Cassie.

  "So what brings you here" Mrs Nas asked

Cassie smiled "Like I couldn't drop by to say hi"

"Oh good gracious" Mrs Nas smiled "I'm having a lot of early Christmas present already, you really dropped by"

   Cassie sighed causing Mrs Nas to raise a brow.

"Okay you never mentioned if it's my one week stay or when my new parent want to take me"

Cassie didn't miss the expression on Mrs Nas face, she almost spilled her drink.

"Mrs Winston is a busy woman so is her husband, but nevertheless they how do I put it" Mrs Nas whispered the last words.

  "Any way, any how" Cassie was sure if she kept her eyes opened without blinking she would cry.

"We aren't sure but, they are with the adoption form all necessary signature on it, it's left for them to sign, then they return and fix a date"

"So no idea when they will return the form" Cassie choked, she didn't want to have that feeling again, a couple had rejected her like this when she was 13,taken the form and never returned back.

   "But don't worry they seem to like you" Mrs Nas was trying her best to console Cassie.

"Okay" Cassie nodded wiping out the small drop of tears in her eyes.

Christmas was approaching, tomorrow Christmas eve and next 25th, she wasn't sure if she would leave before Christmas, she'll turn eighteen.
